chess on the web question
Where can you play blitz games for free and earn a rating. Everywhere I checked is either free but doesn't have a rating system or costs loot for a premium membership.
Thanks for any info. |
Re: chess on the web question
lots of places
iwin.com yahoo pogo etc the rating is worthless, so theres no point theres places with better servers that you can play unrated for free, others can elaborate |
Re: chess on the web question
Thanks.
The rating is just for me to see if any improvement is taking place. |

Not to hijack, but chess players, if you're interested in starting to play competitive chess and get much better, what paysite should you play at that's considered the best?

[/ QUOTE ] Judging by the population of Grandmasters, chess.net. You can watch GMs and IMs play blitz 24 hours a day. They also have live silumcasts where you can sweat the biggest games with other interested people, which usually includes at least one IM. |

Re: chess on the web question
I have to say, FICS is very good site. Free to play. Rated games. I watched a lecture earlier that was free. They have a free video lecture that I didn't click on but Im sure there are others.
Plus I watched a GM play an IM. Im happy with FICS. |
Re: chess on the web question
suck it up and pay for ICC!!!

babaschess tough games tho [/ QUOTE ] I downloaded babaschess to play on the FICS server. Babas must be some sort of an overlay type program that works with other chess servers as well. Maybe Im wrong. I really like the babaschess look. Im checkmateNY if anyone wants to play. Im rated 900 so bring your "A" game. |
Re: chess on the web question
ICC is popular. I play on Playchess, which is wonderful in my opinion. Live streaming commentary by Yasser Seriawan cannot be beat. It's free for me, but I think that's a result of a glitch with Fritz 8.

suck it up and pay for ICC!!! [/ QUOTE ] ICC is rigged. Just accept that I pwned you for a draw once on FICS and that's why you quit. |
