I'm 27, was born on 10/20/78
I live in Olathe, KS (near Kansas City)
I am married, I have a son that will turn 1 on Jan 31.
I'm a software engineer by day, poker player by night
I studied Computer Science at Ottawa University in Kansas.
Not a big movie buff, but typical sci-fi nerd for the most part. I thought Serenity was great, not sure if it's my favorite of 'all time' thouhg. I'm a huge music fan though of all genres (except twangy country and hardcore rap). If it helps at all Fall Out Boy and The Starting Line are in my CD changer at the moment.
My best poker accomplishment was probably winning the Friday Special on party. I've been seriously playing poker since August of '03, but been dabbling in home games since High School. Hoping to add more live poker accomplishments this year.

The home game grew, we started hitting the boats, I went online in 2002 and paid poker tuition until about 2004 when I started becoming a winning tournament player.

Re: The biannual How are you? Where do you live? thread

I'm 31, born Sept. 17, 1974 in Oceanside, NY. I have lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for most of my life. I have worked as a computer network engineer for approximately 12 years and am currently making a career change. I was in a relationship for over 6 years and engaged until this past month when she broke it off rather suddenly. Lots of change for me recently!

I've played poker since about July of last year. I was introduced to the game at a friends house and quickly became enamored with it. My greatest accomplishment to date is simply making 8 final tables this past month. I haven't scored a win yet, but have gotten 2nd in 3 tournaments which I think is great for someone who hasn't even been playing a year. With my newfound free time I've tried to enter into a lot of tournaments and feel like I'm starting to show promise. There are numerous people from this forum to thank for their help in developing what I think is now a winning strategy. Now to get the experience to go along with it....

I like a really wide variety of music. Favorites include Green Day, Aquarium Rescue Unit, and Paul Oakenfold but I like most things musical. I'm also a guitarist and have played for about 15 years, although I am very much out of practice lately. I'm not a huge movie buff and probably couldn't name a single favorite.

6th in the party 500k for 13,000 was good. Been playing since I turned 17, so basically my senior year in high schoo. Been play serious for about 9 months now. These days I'm sort of turned off by tournaments. Somehow the idea of playing for 6 hours to a lose a coinflip and make 5 buy ins instead of 200, isn't all that appealing. Go figure! Lately I've been playing NL 1000 on party with some very mild success. Hopefully I'll stop being a donkey and learn how to play deep stacked poker better.

23 years old, born 9/21/82

Grew up in Baltimore, went to college in Chicago, live in Boston now

Living with my girlfriend of 4+ years, no kids (that I know of!)

I run a non-profit organization called the Boston Debate League. It's an occupation in that it occupies my time, not in that it pays me. That's what poker is for. www.bostondebate.org, the website is out of date but there are some pictures of me on there if anyone is curious.

Graduated from University of Chicago with a BA in Philosophy (no wonder I don't have a job) in 2004

I like the Godfather, the Sopranos, Arrested Development, and the Simpsons. As far as music, genre isn't important to me when the song or group is really good, but in general I prefer indie rock, ie Neutral Milk Hotel, the Decemberists, etc.

My first MTT win ever as a $.50 limit tournament, but man was I stoked about that $86. Biggest score is $3750 in the $15K Guarantee on Pacific, but I also won two 180-man SnG's in one day, that was cool, too.

Nice post.

I'm 20, birthday is November 21st.
I live in Jackson New Jersey, it's central jersey, like 15 minutes from the beach, same town as Great Adventure for you roller coaster people, hour-ish from NY and Philly.
I've been with my girlfriend for 3 years
No occupation besides poker at the moment, used to be a "student", but was one by name only. Didn't attend class and got kicked out for having a 0.0GPA. Tried community colelge, but that was a joke, and i held my 0.0 steady. Now taking time off, and if all goes well, won't have to go back.

Movie? hm.. well the answer probably changes with the mood i'm in, but i'm a huge Donnie Darko fan.
As for TV shows, Law and Order (SVU mostly, but toss some CI in there), Family Guy, Futurama, Seinfeld, etc etc.
Music i like quite a bit, like some things from most genre's but i guess my favorite would be ska, like Streetlight Manifesto, I Voted for Kudos. But starting to get into soft-ish rock, big Weezer fan.

Best poker acomplishment? Monthly TLB in September or 14th at EPT dublin. Been playing 'seriously' for 9 months, but overall like 2+ years.

Best poker acomplishment? How long been playing?
- Financially, best accomplishments are a couple of UB wins with 400+ runners, first place for both in excess of $3K
- Strategically, best accomplishment was playing in the UB SCN-II a few weeks ago. Didn't cash, but only made a couple of minor mistakes in 4-5 hours of play. Gave me more confidence that my play has improved a lot in the last year.
- Studying and playing seriously on and off for several years, but much more so during the last 12 months; have played about 350 online MTTs in the last 8 months.

I've been playing a bit over a year, but only seriously this month. Won a few freerolls, and I've made about 700-1000 on Party Poker.

I've been watching a lot of you play, and really aspire to be like you. I want to be a pro player and make all of my income from cash games, SnGs, and MTTs.
