Re: ***Official media submission thread for the sticky***

Is there a discussion thread for the Chronicle article? That article is surprisingly good news for us. I didn't expect circumvention of the ban to be covered at all in the mainstream media. Is the Chronicle the main paper in the SF area, or a lesser one?

I don't think the chronicle article has been discussed. I just read it yesterday.

The Chronicle is the biggest/most respected SF newspaper, and (I'm speculating here) is also the biggest Bay Area newspaper.

I was very pleased to read the article fwiw.

That's what I thought. Great news, and great find. At least we'll still have the casual players from the Bay Area for a while.

Updated with these new articles.

Also started using a <font color="red">NEW</font> tag to designate those most recently added.

I think a discussion thread on the Chronicle article would certainly be warranted. When one is started I'll link it up there...

http://www.gambling911.com/gambling-100606.html

FT of London Pro Regulation and Tax Piece reproduced on gambling911, some colourful historical stuff

"Gambling has been falsely demonised for centuries"

History has shown time and again that prohibitions, rather than solving problems, cause more. Prohibition drives brains and capital underground or out of the country. Eventually, after incurring significant costs and harmful long-term consequences, societies abolish prohibition and regulate the industries. But they may never attract back the cluster of skills that left.

Neteller's bank accounts at Barclays rumoured to be shut down if Bush signs

The are rumours abound that Barclays will be shutting down Netellers accounts when and if President Bush signs the Internet Gaming Prohibition Bill. Sources have told MajorWager that Neteller has decided to cease US operations should Bush sign the Bill. Neteller was contacted and has yet to respond to these rumours at this time.
