***Official Minnesota Twins V Oakland A\'s playoff thread***

Should be a good series. These two teams met just a couple weeks ago at the dome and the Twins took the series 2-1 but were shut out in the final game. Let's hope for good baseball!

Ass. I hope Anaheim and Arsenal never win again.

Is Loaiza really starting game two?

Twins need a Santana win in the worst way game 1, since the rest of our starters are really hit/miss.

I am just hoping for a great series. I am not really sure who I would prefer to advance.

I really look forward to Santana/Zito though. And I hope the Twins kids can have some decent starts while against Haren and the rest.

The Twins blew their wad trying to win the division. A's are well rested and ready to rock.

good point, our regulars didnt get any rest that last week and johan really had to overpitch to get us to that division title.

on a serious note, I CAN NOT BELIEVE THE GAME IS AT 1000 AM PACIFIC TIME???? DO THE ATHLETICS NOT HAVE FANS? I would skip class in a heart beat for these games but I have a freaking test on tuesday. aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggggggghhh.

No, the A's don't have a lot of fans. I think there are 12 of us. This is obviously the least attractive series for the media.

I'll be rooting for whoever wins game 1 to sweep the series so they can be rested for the Yankees.

A sick part of me wants the Twins to win, so we can again here how the A's "aren't built for the playoffs."

Yeah it sucks that non NY/LA/CHI markets always get screwed.

The Twins are 17-0 this year with Johan starting at home, just in case anyone believed the Sportscenter position that this is the most evenly matched playoff series.

Boris, the key for the A's is actually easier than that. They just need to close their eyes and pretend they're playing the Mariners. Series over!

This should be a good one though. I think this will be a tough one, probably 5 games.

On WSEX I see LA +130/NYM -150, STL +140/SD -160, OAK +140/MN -160.

This seems fair to me, though if I was to bet on any of these teams I would bet on MN. (HOMER duh). But everything I hear on sportscenter and ESPN radio says that the Mets, Padres and Yankees are going to blow out their competition and that Oakland/Minnesota is a pick'em. I just don't think that is giving enough respect to a great home team with home field ad. who finished the season 71-33 and is starting Johan for 2 games in the 5 game series.

Yeah I was nitting pretty hard, I had checked pinnacle and the twins were -150 and the padres and mets were -153 and -160 or something.

I have a class for 1-230 called Natural Disasters is this a standard skip. Note I have no real affiliation with either team.

New001 10-03-2006 12:17 PM

Re: ***Official Minnesota Twins V Oakland A\'s playoff thread***

Yes, easy choice to skip. It's the first game of the playoffs! And it should be a good series too.

JordanIB 10-03-2006 12:49 PM

Re: ***Official Minnesota Twins V Oakland A\'s playoff thread***

I don't think I ever skipped a class solely to watch a game that didn't involve one of my teams. (This is different from skipping because I skipped the class 40% of the time anyway, and did it once again to watch the playoffs).

So standard depends on you and the class. Sounds like a blow-off class though. "Nautral Disasters"? LOL.

junglewarfare 10-03-2006 12:59 PM

Re: ***Official Minnesota Twins V Oakland A\'s playoff thread***

if i didnt have a midterm in 30 minutes id def skip class to watch this

I <3 Joe Morgan broadcasting.

If a player steals successfully : "This is why you need to run, and teams like Oakland never win. Small ball is so important in playoff baseball, you have to try to take the extra base."

If a player gets thrown out : "You can't steal in this situation, make the pitcher earn his outs."

TheRover 10-03-2006 01:33 PM

Re: ***Official Minnesota Twins V Oakland A\'s playoff thread***

They are all over Santana's changeup today.

shemp 10-03-2006 01:33 PM

Re: ***Official Minnesota Twins V Oakland A\'s playoff thread***

You have a pitcher struggling to locate in the first inning you don't want to get thrown out stealing. A guy who likes to run can't say that? I was unaware that he said teams like Oakland never win.

Please save your inane Morgan hate for another thread?

yellowdoyle 10-03-2006 01:35 PM

Re: ***Official Minnesota Twins V Oakland A\'s playoff thread***

Totally agree, re: Morgan.

Santana has great stuff, but his location has been pretty shady. And how about that Jay Payton speed....not bad.
