American Fishes: The Aftermath
As we all know, 99.9% of American players have more money than brains and are just dying to give their cash away to people like me. I liked this set up - they get their occasional 3-outers and win some hands and feel all warm and fluffy inside thinking they are geniuses, and I take a majority of their bankroll in the long run.
My concern is (as with the Ryder Cup) all the talent is in Europe, and this will hit my profit. Excellent players like me and a few of you guys on this site will still make money, but it's goodbye to those 6-figure months The only use for America that I can see it letting their citizens keep paying my wages. Please please please do something useful and stop this bill. You will be helping yourselves as well as us Europeans. Thank you, R.I.P POKER |

You snobby europeans come to Vegas every summer and leave with your tails tucked between your legs.I think you did not put the
right twist on your silly thoughts,we americans dominate Poker. |
Re: American Fishes: The Aftermath
I don't get this, the Euros are by far the biggest fish. Where is Umea, cause I'm going to move there. I've run into the worst lags from there. London also.
It's weird because before the NL boom in the states, NL/PL was mostly played in Europe and I find some of the worst NL players are from Europe |

Europe is tight, my ancestors descended from their stock, but jesus you guys are blantantly audacious. What is the deal with the overt discrimination against Americans?

Im referring to SSNL when I say this. I understand at the super high stakes its tilty Scandis and Italians that spew though. That being said OP, most people are idiots, and Americans have been subjected to considerable amounts of advertising giving them VOLUME, which is key to us, and why if we lose a good portion of them we're [censored]. |

Re: American Fishes: The Aftermath
Think people played 7-Stud mostly in Denmark before the boom.
Alot of the NL fish are people who saw poker on TV as it didn´t boom here till recently. |
Re: American Fishes: The Aftermath
Yea Euros are big donkeys... Americans dominate..common knowledge.. dumb post..
|
Re: American Fishes: The Aftermath
Why don't you hate on America some more you communist jackass.
|
Re: American Fishes: The Aftermath
Ummm although I am an American, I think I can issue an unbiased opinion on this topic because I don't feel that the average talent of poker players in the US affects me in the least....
I would argue, and I think by looking at the games on Party after the US ban you could also surmise, that typically the best and the worst players are from the US. - Jeff |

If it wasn't for Americans, all these Euro ^&$#suckers would be speaking German.

I don't know what I am doing here in highstakes, but the title of this post caught my eye. So, European dude... When was the last time a European won the WSOP main event? 1990? Mansour Matloubi? He was from London. That was 16 years ago. And before that, NOBODY from outside of the US of A won the main event. Do the math! Figure out the ratio of American WSOP event winners (side events as well) to European event winners. Hell, do any annual event in the world. And while you're at it, why don't you look at the top money makers list and tell me how many of those players live in Europe. Compare that to how many of them are from the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. I'm out! |

Re: American Fishes: The Aftermath
Mortensen from Spain?
I'm American but is it really fair to figure the ratio before the poker boom? I doubt there were that many # of Europeans in many American events . |
Re: American Fishes: The Aftermath
I thought Mortensen was a US citizen when he won? Or is he still not? I may be confused about that one. Besides, 1990's winner just lived in London. He was Iranian born.
And yes, I do think it's fair to say. Clearly R.I.P. Poker believes it's fair to say that Europeans are better poker players than Americans are RIGHT NOW. He's not saying "Europoean poker players will be better than Americans when the poker boom hits." He is saying that they are better than us RIGHT NOW. I call BS. |
Re: American Fishes: The Aftermath
No, you're right. He's still over there in Spain. For some reason I thought he lived in Vegas. Oh well.

An advice to all you patriotic americans: don't take this post serious. |
Re: American Fishes: The Aftermath
The average quality of European players is much higher than the average quality of American players. I defy anyone who isn't American to disagree.
|
Re: American Fishes: The Aftermath
Im canadian.
There's no reason to believe that either is better than the other. People who think that there is probably do so because they're blind to evidence that supports a conclusion that is contrary to what they already assume to be true. Right now we do have reason to believe that the typical american online player is better. Recreational players are far less inclined to be playing online in light of recent events than are people who play seriously, which leaves you with a skewed sample of the american poker playing population as a whole. |

[/ QUOTE ] I'd be willing to bet that the average european finished higher than the average american in almost every WSOP that has ever been held. It's an american event. Which means the vast majority of players will be american. And it also means that of the europeans who do choose to fly to the US to play, a far smaller proportion will be casual players. |

Re: American Fishes: The Aftermath
many of the best players come from europe......
|
Re: American Fishes: The Aftermath
ummm.........
are you insulting the people you want help from? guess the brains arent in europe either. btw how many majors do the euros have this millenium? get back to me... |

When was the last time a European came last in the WSOP main event? Has that ever happened? And before that, NOBODY from outside of the US of A have ever came last in the Main event. |
