High Stakes Poker Season 3

I noticed aba's thread in BBV saying he will be playing for atleast 12 hours. Do we know what the rest of the lineup is going to be? Has Negreanu wised up? Did Prahlad get on, or even bother to try?

I tried w/out success. I know through the grapevine that Pra tried, but I don't think he got on. I might be wrong.
There was a lot of interest this year. --ba

I'm surprised that aba got in and Friedman, with a bracelet, Circuit event FT, and deep finish in '06 Main Event couldn't.

Prahlad said they never called him, and he never called them, when asked on FTP.

He is awful, absolutely awful. He looks so awkward in front of the camera, and struggles to deliver lines.

I like AJ Benza. He has good chemistry with the funny guy.

From an article on Pokernews.com:

[ QUOTE ]
Players making their debuts on the show include Howard "The Professor" Lederer, 2005 World Champion Joseph Hachem, "High Stakes Poker" host Gabe Kaplan and 2006 World Series of Poker runner up Paul Wasicka. An entire list of the participating players is due to be released before taping begins next week.

[/ QUOTE ]

Taping will be Oct. 11-12 from 11a-11p both days.

It certainly seems that way and honestly I think he is a +ev player in that game

South Coast? LOL. Of all beautiful venues they could have chosen, they pick South Coast? I don't get it. A low brow, WAAAAY off the Strip locals casino? That is interesting.

Though I respect Hachem, I am thinking he will either not play a single hand or be busto, one of the two. Would rather see Gold then Wasicka (and little to no "internet pros" hopefully).

It will be great if Kaplan is a player in the game. Would love to see that. Hopefully it wasn't a misprint. Benza is fine with me. I think the two have a very good chemistry.

South Coast LOL. Why not have it at Texas Station?

From what I heard it was a dead heat between Arizona Charlies and Fiesta Rancho, but South Coast sniped the bidding at the last second and won.

Yeah, one has to wonder who will be co-commentating alongside AJ when Gabe is playing.

What happens if Gabe comes out of the game, a winner? Instant street cred? Surely his commentary will be respected more?

What happens if Gabe comes out of the game, a loser? Only bad things for Gabe surely?

HSP is the only poker show I watch now. I loved Gabe's "Clockwork Orange" thing on the last show. I really miss it when it's in repeats.

My guess is he'll only play for one show and someone else will commentate with A.J (maybe Doyle). I don't think he'll mix it up too much for fear of looking bad if he makes a wrong read. Unless he wins or loses big in a hand over hand situation, I don't think he will have a major decision. How much will he put on the table to start? My guess either the $100,000 minimum or a huge amount and basically not gamble at all.

I thought his commentary was already respected. Has an anti-Gabe movement started already?

Gabe Kaplan played on Live at the Bike last year. It's been a while since I've seen that particular show but I seem to remember him as playing a relatively-tight, solid cash game.

That's the way he played in the WPT Mirage event.

But, his commentary is still good.

The south coast is actually very nice, extremely juicy NL200 games there too.

I'm sure all/most of the commentary is taped later, so it would actually be cool if he commented on his own play. Of course this would make it obvious that it is taped so I'm pretty sure they wouldn't do that.

Why the hate for off strip properties?

Do you really care where you sleep if it's clean, safe, has a comfy bed and okay food service?
