Would you Lie

Back in 2000 I had an under age drinking. I paid the fine and never heard anything else about it. Then 4 years later I had a cop pulled up next to me in a parking lot late at night and took my license and he ended up giving me a fine saying it was suspended.

Well I ended up pledging not guilty and I over slept the original hearing and I called the District court house and told them my car got a flat tire and couldn’t get there. Then I had to get a lawyer and go to the Main courthouse and had to stand in front of the judge and swear in the court of law I was telling the truth.

He asked me if my car really did get a flat that day. If I lied I would be able to pay a fine and not lose my license at all. If I tell the truth and tell him my car indeed did not get a flat and I over slept I would lose my license for a year and possibly lose my job.

So my question is what would you do? And if you indeed did lie to the judge would you really feel bad about it?

Is this because you dont believe in the whole God thing and going to Hell. Or because its more important having your license and a job?

I'd lie, leave the court room with my license, drive to an electronics store, and purchase an alarm clock.

While you were a douche for over-sleeping, loss of license for 1 year and loss of job is not an acceptable punishment.

I don't feel bad lying about it for a second. Just make sure you have the story sorted out in your head beforehand so you can answer any questions he may ask. Preparing like this will help you convince yourself that you are telling the truth too, which is important.

I would lie in this spot - but most times when you're under oath what they're asking you is a lot more serious than some BS traffic beef. Never do it in an important case because if you get caught, you're going to ass-rape jail for a long long time.

Might as well lie at this point, but oversleeping a court appearance basically labels you as a worthless human being.

Yes I thought i could drink a few beers the night before. Well the few beers turned into alot of beers and some weed and the hearing was at 830. So there you go i was worthless 2 years ago.

Because I payed the 150$ fine and never heard anything about the underage drinking or license from penndot. Got pulled over 1 time before and never heard anything about it then. The out of the blue cop told me it was suspended. I call penndot they tell me why.

Personally, I don't really lie. However, in this case, you would be unfairly pozzed by the system and it wasn't your fault (they didn't tell you they suspended your license? wtf?). Lie away.

You were scheduled to have a hearing about your suspended license, and you told the judge you didn't show up cause you couldn't DRIVE YOURSELF there?

Am I missing something?

I woulda let the air out of my tire after I called and gave the excuse, for just the reason you faced

yes sir your honor sir, my tire was indeed flat today

Re: Would you Lie

A) Why didn't the judge comment on the fact that you were going to DRIVE there.
B) If you came clean and said you overslept I don't think much would be different. They probably wouldn't take your license away.

Seriously? I was hoping for the classic "I did this to my brother's gf/you ass/SIIHP" thread.

Meh. A lie here is standard.
