What % of poker players are 2+2ers?

We've all thought about the topic of Poker Profitability. We've all noticed the games are getting tougher. The question is: What % of poker players are 2+2ers? Are we just beating eachother?

Re: What % of poker players are 2+2ers?

If you mean players worldwide and including all the people who play at home games etc. the percentage is probably something like <0.1%.

If you mean online poker players who speak English the percentage might be like two per cents at maximum.

Felt distribution at FTP (25, 50, 100 6-max):
5% - 2p2ers
75% - short stacks
5% - other rather solid players
15% - fishy

I've wondered what percentage of players on line are "students of the game", whether that means visiting this site on a regular basis, or another site, or just reading alot and analyzing and trying to improve their own game. My perception is that it's higher than people would guess.

Re: What % of poker players are 2+2ers?

An important thing to remember is that strong winning players have been and will be playing for a long time whereas fish are constantly flowing to and from the sites. So, there is a big difference between 'playing right now' and 'have ever played'.

I think a lot of full time gamblers we see as part time poker players. You know, when the Jai-Alai games aren't running in the middle of the night.

i agree...and more importantly just because a person posts or is a part of 2+2 that doesn't mean they are an exellent player.

I think it is more widely known that you CAN make money if your game is worked on so more people are putting more effort into it. However i doubt many people have the dedication to become good players. I would imagine 10 years ago you'd have to do a lot of research to discover something like pot odds whereas now even a lot of the bad players know that.

Ten years ago, all I had to do to learn about pot odds was read a single book.

Let's see...

Today: Go to Amazon.com. Order Theory of Poker or Super System.

1996: Go to Amazon.com. Order Theory of Poker or Super System.

I declare it a tie.

In 1986 you'd actually have had to go to a bookstore to buy Super System though, so that would be harder.

As much as 40% of players "playing right now" are winners. Only something like 1% of players "ever played" are winners.

What's the over/under on number of posts until someone says "But 40% of the players in my PT database are winners!"?

Re: What % of poker players are 2+2ers?

I would guess overall 1 out of 3 players are "winning players". That meaning overall they are up money. the majority of these players are borderline break even though, which is nothing to brag about.

For Heads Up SNG's in general it is amazing how many losing players I come across on sharkscope..... AMAZING

Am I the only one who will bring up 2p2 at a live game to see who's head will turn? (and who to keep an eye on)

btw I'd bet that well under 30% of players are winners, probably under 20% ... the rake has more effect than you know!

Re: What % of poker players are 2+2ers?

%winners has been extensively discussed here.

A few poker sites have quoted that overall, roughly 7-8% of players are winners each year.

If you factor in STTs & MMTs, you'll understand why this number makes sense even though everyones poker tracker numbers show that roughly 40% of ring game players are winners.

If you do a search here, you'll find many lengthy discussions on this.

i dont talk 2 people about 2+2 cuz i don't want them catching on. There are 66,755 registered people in this forum so thats a place 2 start.

Re: What % of poker players are 2+2ers?

If you want to know how many players at your table (online) are 2+2, you also have to factor in that 2+2ers are more likely to be multi-tablers.

at 5/10 nl and higher, id say over 50% read these forms regularly.

As the stakes go higher the more 2+2ers you will see as ahnuld already stated.
