Something similar to this happened to me earlier tonight when I had KK. Unfortunately, he had QQ and sucked out.

I have played against him a few times. I can't really vouge if he is good or not. I just can't believe he made that move against curtains, I mean UTG limp, damn! But, to Majors defense we all have looked stupid like this from time to time, be it due to tilt, tired, or multi-tabling.

NH sir.

i do that with AA and KK when im on huge tilt. hes on huge tilt pushing AK obv. hes a winning player though overall, palys a bunch of tables, and doesnt do too badly at that. holla

I sort-of advocated it, but it was over a raise, not open. That's just silly. And I don't even do that anymore. Basically any non-standard play I ever espouse on here immediately stops working for me the second I mention it. And every fear expressed on this board comes true. IE - first time I re-raise pushed early level with AK, 66 called, I lost. Never happened once until I talked about it on this board. Now I can't steal a pot to save my life. I just sit there card dead and wait for the blinds to hit me like everyone else. Yay. But I did win one doing that. So maybe there's something to it. Just a lot more stressful than having a nice stack. And you have to get the cards.

AK is the most overrated hand in lvls 1+2.

Now I generally just call and hope to stack someone.

I do it quite rarely but when there are a few regulars at the table, I think its important that they see you limp with AA-KK sometimes. There was no strategy behind it, I just basically randomly decided, as I do on occasion with AA and KK in EP.

At higher buy-ins I'm sure this is right... but... pulling this move at $22 and $33 when a donk has opened the pot doubles me up fairly consistently when he shows AJo. Seriously, it is always AJo.

Yeah that's what got me going on it. But on the $60s they fold AJ to a push, usually, call with AQ and call with high PPs, generally. It's just that -- out on the third hand over a small pot -- that doesn't make you feel all warm and fuzzy.

Yeah Im ready to just open fold or something. In the 800 chippers it just kills you when you get reraised on a c-bet or someone pushes over the top of your raise pf.

I don't know anything about him being Actionmonkey, but I know that MajorPolk is HoytCorkins5. So if Actionmonkey played as HoytCorkins5, then it's the same guy.

You 109 and 215 tourney guys seem like such a tight knit community. You all know each other. Down here at the 22s, I rarely see anyone I've played with in more than 2-3 tournaments. Which is very nice.

Poor Hoyt, must be running terrible to do this one.

this is really truly odd to me. this is the second post i've seen by this person today, and both have been fairly like "in the know sounding" wrt high stakes players. this one with major, the first with diablo. the diablo one i am pretty sure is just right out false. this one i think is going with the major = hoytcorkin theory as opposed to the major = actionmonkey theory. BUT MAYBE HE'S BOTH!!! who knows. well, i'm sure i know of one person who knows, but it's not me. i'm personally going to side with the "i don't know what hoyt's sn is now but i think that major = monkey" side.

Looks pretty standard. Yes you are going to run into AA and KK once in a while, but that's outweighed by the times villain has A10-AQ.

AlphaWice 01-29-2006 10:34 AM

Re: sorry I just find this hand too funny

Dude are you serious? Consider the EP's raising range, then consider the times he calls you, knowing he only calls you with ubertight. The calculation can easily show you are way -EV.

Not if you are playing at a level where there are a lot of regulars who pick up on it and exploit it.
