100k in a year update: i can\'t beat .05-.10

Hi everyone. I thought I would update my "make 100k in a year" bet in a new thread. (crib notes in case you didn't see first thread: I have been loser in online poker for two years, but I bet someone $10k I could make $100k in the next year. I started with $5k.)

~4 hours 3-tabling .50-1: -$100. I thought I was playing better than most people, but I'm not sure pokertracker agrees. After about 3000 hands, I have a VP$P of around 35%, and I see this is significantly higher than my table average! I can't believe it, I thought everyone was playing so loose, but actually I was playing more hands! I've seriously cut down the # of hands I play from my pre-bet levels, but I guess I need to find some more to trim.

Ptracker says I'm Loose-Aggressive-Aggressive (tasmanian devil icon). Is that bad?

Anyway, I was a little depressed after losing a couple of humungo pots back-to-back that wiped out a potential winning session (one bad play and one bad beat), so I decided to drop down and play .05-.10 for a little bit, figuring I could pick up an easy $5-10 and gain a tiny bit of confidence. But no, instead I ended up playing for an hour and a half and lost $15. Worst part is that's like 300BB, so my monthly graph in BB isn't going to look good.

Current BR: $4195
To Go: $100,805
Mood: A little down. If I could take back the bet right now for no money I would strongly consider it.

Rackeback doesn't count for your bet right? If not, I suggest some serious grinding.

Go back to basics. Find a preflop chart and study it. You are playin too many hands.

Did I just say this in BBV?

[censored] it homie. LAG IT UP!

A Blind monkey with a wrench and a poker book could win 100k if he had access to this website.

Seriously, not only do you make stupid bets and likely have a gambling problem, you have to be retarded.

$15 at 0.05/0.10 is only 150 BB, assuming you are talking about limit, which you do right? And thats a LOTS of bets to blow in 1.5 hourse, especially Full ring.

Did you play Full ring or 6-max?

Clearly there is only one answer - DONKAMENTS!!!!

There you can play as many hands as you want and it doesn't matter - you can still win.

Besides, this is the perfect time to play. Have you learned nothing from Newhizzle? Run mad cold at limit cash games and then get a huge score in a donkament.

If I build a healthy roll, I might take some shots at a few "donkaments." But I think I need to concentrate on becoming a winning player first.

I think that starting with a 5K roll and trying to make 100K in year would be quite a challenge for most poker players. Many could probably do it but I think you'd have to put a ton of hours in. edited to add: this particularly applies if the player is new or in this case, a losing player to start with.

In the NL context, doesn't "BB" typically refer to "big blinds" rather than "big bets"?

And I don't know what "PTBB" means.

So PT says you're a maniac and you ask if you need to tighten up?

I'm guessing two things:

1) You don't pay nearly enough attention to position preflop (i.e. You play the same hands UTG that you would from the CO).

2) You push too hard postflop with 2nd best hands or with good starting hands that missed the flop entirely (AK on a T high flop, or TT on an AKx flop).

I can reload if I need to, so long as I make $100k in profit by the end of the year. I'd rather not, though.

5k + 10k + 20k + 40K = 75k thats a good start

DO BLACKJACK! Surely you can win 5 consecutive hands in a row. Just have to find someplace to take a 40k bet on one hand..

nah just kill your friend then delete this forum (motive) and you wont have to pay the bet... dont want to do that? 1 table $1/$2 at party using SSH and read it every night and read forums and move up and then youll get it... eventually... What about casino whoring? Risk of busto is greater but a change.

Last suggestion - take your money and start your own poker room and pray it takes off by some miracle. Or sell poker products.. it said you had to make 100k in poker

Edit: I read that as the poker business and not simply playing... Maybe but some tables and chips and rent them to charities.

I think my post-flop play is fairly appropriate for the games I'm playing. At first I think I was bluffing too much on the turn and river, but I think I've corrected for that. But I agree that I am probably playing too many suited-connector and suited-ace type hands OOP preflop. I also have a tendency to raise any pot that is folded to me when I am in LP, no matter what I have.
