Post Your Finest Poker Moments

This can be anything that's happened to you in poker, a hand or whatever else. I have two that come to mind. First one is a hand I played a couple months ago in Vegas vs. jay, 1800gambler at 5/5 NL, we are deepstacked, he has like 1.5k I have it covered. I open to $20 with AJo, he raises to $65 and I call, HU.

The flop is J52, I check/call his bet of $80. Turn comes a 8, I check call his bet of $200 and I'm not really sure what's going on now cause the game is playing a little crazy and we're drinking. River is a 3, I check he bets $450, and I check/raise all in for his last $700 or $800, he folds aces. He asked me like 25 times what I had, I said AJ but he said I'd never do that with AJ and insisted it was pocket fives. See Jay, it really was the AJ I said I had.

Another one of my finest poker moments might have been playing Chau Giang NL $200/$400 HU in the big room at Bellagio. Okay guys, your turn.

Bluffing off case money to Persian Steve. A few limpers at 5-5 NL at the Playstation underground club in NYC. I raise big with AKo on the CO (I had a nitty image back then as I used to always nut-peddle with my bankroll on the table). Persian Steve called and a few others called.

I had 1K left and there was about 300 in the pot. Flop came down J39. Everybody checked.

Turn came a 6. I bet 250. Persian Steve looks at me and says "I think you're speeding kid" and calls.

River came a 10 and I pushed my last 750 in. He called me with 34o.

He said he put me on AK, and I was distraught: could I have been broke due to being outplayed by some New York shark? A year later he also put me on AK as he called off 9K against me on a J-high flop with QQ in a 10-25 game, so I guess that made me feel better.

i've misread the board twice in my life, i suppose they can be considered my LEAST-finest poker moments. one of them was against persian steve.

5-5 game at broadway, i think i have about 1500, steve covers. he raises in ep, maybe a caller or two, and i call otb with 22. i flop a set with two spades on board, it's checked to me and i make a pot-sized bet, steve calls. turn is the Js, he checks, i bet, he c/r'es all-in. i call, he shows JJ, river is a non-board-pairing 4th spade. i muck, then later realize i had the deuce of spades.

Hi Bruiser,

Too numerous to list. Just yesterday I took down the Party 1/2 NL game for 80BBs. Not impressed? I was also doing a little something known as "multi-tabling" at the time. That's where I play more than one game AT THE SAME TIME.

several years ago on my 2nd night of learning PLO I played short handed PLO against The Prince of Docness(I'm told he's an Omaha specialist, course I didn't know that) and what someone told me was Gus Hansen's online handle. Needless to say that didn't go very well.

I did last for quite sometime which I think for my 2nd day of PLO I caught on extremely quick

ummmm, hands from the 2/4 game w/ CG, please?

my favorite poker moment was the reno 5k wpt event, even though it crippled me.

CG was opening alot and willing to stack off with a LOT as long as he was doing the raising, i hadn't seen him even ponder calling an all in.

he was pushing james282 around a lot and was definately becoming a threat at the table.

soon after i talked i-forget-who into calling a bet it turns out id likely rather not have him call and winning CG opens on the button for like 15k, 100ante 1500/3000 blinds IIRC. i call 77 in the sb w/ like 36 folks or so left in the 591 player tourney. he has 120k or so in chips and i have like 250k.

flop is J52 rb. i check, he bets 20k or so, i push. he jumps out of his chair kinda and starts mumbling about how i have a set, and how could i have a set if i didn't reraise preflop (which, to myself, i was thinking lol). he finally said, after FOREVER, "ok, i come to gambool, i call" and tabled AA. i lost, was cripled kinda and finished 26th. james finished 22nd.

Hitting a 3-outer to scoop a huge pot in a 4/8 Crazy Pineapple Hi Lo game vs. Noted Baseball Authority Nate Silver.

Re: Post Your Finest Poker Moments

When I was basically playing with lunch money, and I really had no clue what I was doing, I came 2nd in a 20 dollar tournament on party, and won 3400 dollars. My previous roll was about 100 dollars-- mainly from saving up a few dollars a day from lunch money from my parents in high school.

With 11 players left I got all in with TT vs QQ preflop and the flop was monotone, giving the QQ a flush draw and me one out. The turn blanked, and the river was a ten. I nearly [censored] my chair.

From there I was a nit and hit just a few hands, but mainly rode that pot to 2nd. This was just over 2 years ago, and to this day I wonder if I would have kept playing poker if I had not won that TT vs QQ pot. I'm sure there is a reasonable chance if I had lost, I would have gone busto and never played again. I have been going off that 3400 score ever since, and I had no money to my name before then. Every now and then I think about that hand, and wonder how my life would be different if I lost. God bless dikshit. I think.

I just like going on sick runs like turning 300 bucks into 20k in 24 hours (don't ask about the next 24 hours) or turning 1k into 50k in a few days.

Also when the 5/10 opened on party I had 10k-15k stacks a couple of times (I hardly ever see anyone with 10k stack at 5/10 anymore)

Re: Post Your Finest Poker Moments

Not my finest moment, still fun though:

October 2005 i was playing in the EPT event in Baden. I played a few big live events before, but never got close to the final table. In Baden everything was going well though and before i knew it i survived day 3 and was on to the televised final table! Obviously i was really psyched to play the final table. Day three ended pretty late, so after a beer or two i tried to get some sleep. When i woke up there was only one thing on my mind... TELEVISED FINAL TABLE SHIP IT. I was chipleader by the way and as soon as i got there we had to do some interview stuff and stars started talking to me about some sponsoring. I didn't have time at all that day to sit down and chill down a bit because of all the stuff going on pre play. Before i knew it they were hooking us up with mics and the play started.

I expected to be really nervous, but to be honest I was quite relaxed. Or at least I thought... After about half an hour of play i realized what i had forgot to do because of all the hassle before the final table. I forgot to take my morning dump!! At first i thought i could make it until the brake, but it started to really distract me and i was folding more than usual. After some uncomfortable squirming in my chair I decided that it would be better to miss a hand or three than to not feel comfortable so i went for it. The toilet was pretty far so i sorta started running (with the crowd wondering what the [censored] was going on obviously). I ran into the toilet and after some very loud farting (you know those nasty "I SHOULD'VE GONE EARLIER" farts) I dumped a good one and felt a lot better...

...until I noticed i forgot to take of my Microphone!!

I finished up third and Patrick Antonius took first. Stars sponsored me for one event and never offered me anything after that anymore

I was playing a small buy in tourney with some family members, and at the start Mena Suvari was seated to my right. I didn't even recognize her, I just knew she was hot so I talked to her the whole time. She busted out pretty quickly unfortunately.

Later in the tournament, I'm in a heads up pot with my sister and bluff her out. After the tournament I tell her it was a bluff and she gets very mad at me, which made me just laugh in her face while she's yelling at me. I'm smiling now just thinking about it.

Grade 12, first time ever playing in a poker game, 4-handed in my basement, dealer's choice. About an hour and five $10 buyins later, dealer calls no limit omaha hi/low and explains the rules. I river A-5 diamonds for the best high and low, lead for most of my stack, and get raised 'allin' ... but I have an unbeatable hand so I run upstairs to grab another $20 from my kid brother, but he won't lend it to me. So I borrow/steal a twenty from my dad's wallet, run back downstairs, reraise and he calls. Ship it.
