Sklansky making a run at Borgata...
End of Day 2 Sklansky has T212500 with 69 players remaining.
Good luck sir. |
Re: Sklansky making a run at Borgata...
Didn't he finish close to the final table at a recent wpt as well? can't remember which.
|
Re: Sklansky making a run at Borgata...
I believe he went fairly deep in the WPT Championship some months ago.
Day 3 has ended and Sklansky is still in with T462000. He is currently in 11th place out of 27 players remaining. |
Re: Sklansky making a run at Borgata...
he's the shortstack at the final table now
|
Re: Sklansky making a run at Borgata...
They quit for the day. David is 6th out of 6. He has about T660k. Top 3 have 7Mil/3Mil/1Mil.
|
Re: Sklansky making a run at Borgata...
he's in the lead at the table with most books written.
|
Re: Sklansky making a run at Borgata...
Good Morning,
He previously won the made for the WPT event "Writers Tournament" a season or two back. This probably will be his best money finish in a tournament all-time - 6th pays in excess of $250K. He won WSOP bracelets back in the early 80's when the purses were miniscule. Good Luck, David. All-In IS the move this evening. Re: Sklansky making a run at Borgata...
while i was watching david didnt play many hands at all, but jennifer tilly played a big one. her opponent moved in on a board of KQJ7 and she debated for an eternity while we watched and finally called off a veritable mountain of chips with Q7. her opponent of course had the nuts A10. it was one of the worst deep stack call offs i have ever seen. She looked like she wanted to crawl in a hole as she slipped out of there, hopefully it will be a learning experience for her. the player who had the nuts had previously came over the top of her a couple of times so maybe that explains her call a little.

Re: Sklansky making a run at Borgata...
David Sklansky has played 6 out of the 57 hands at the FT. What a nit.
|
Re: Sklansky making a run at Borgata...
Mark Newhouse raises to $150,000 and David Sklansky moves all in from the big blind. Newhouse folds. Sklansky wins the pot.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T thats an automatic call with his stack against anyone else. |

I'm already dying to hear about the hand where newhizzle knocks out Skalanaskay.

Re: Sklansky making a run at Borgata...
my friend had a hand against jennifer tilly on day 2 where there was a 5 card straight on the board and she checks to him on the river and he bets about $20,000 chips and she calls.. he shows his cards (no ace) and she tosses her cards into the muck. Everyone at the table pushed them back to her and told her "no ! no! dont do that! your card can be considered dead". My friend was too dumb to call over the tournament director and get the hand declared dead

Domar I will tell you what - go to the posters homepage and read some of his commentary then scan some of his posts where he makes one line comments on Annie Dukes play or Joe Hachem's and see if you still feel he was "joking"
My comments were "harsh" but I believe after reading the above that you and JohnnyHumongous will appreciate why I don't believe an apology is necessary. While I did deride the "pup" it had basis. Intelligent considered Monday Morning quarterbacking of play is part of what a poker forum is for - However I sometimes tire of derogatory one line comments from individuals about players they can only dream of becoming. As to Bsheck's "HU for Bankroll" challenge my first suggestion would be for him to get a bankroll worth my time and trouble to take. RealMcCoy |

The coverage staffs were all in agreement he played some great poker until his final hand. If he doubles on a coinflip there, he takes the chip lead. Nice tournament David. |

Newbie ?
Your registration date for 2+2 08/21/05 My Registration date for 2+2 02/28/03 Been playing in home games since the late 70's Casino's since 1982, online since July 1999. Just because I haven't throw out 2500 posts in a year hardly makes me a "newbie". It's fair to say some issues and mindless posts get under my skin. It's fair to say I may have missed his sarcasm (although I don't believe it based upon his posting history). It's certainly fair to say I have little tolerance for the rampant jamming is the only way to play the game mentality of many young inexperienced players. (NOTE: Some new to the game play LAG to the skill level that I wished I had the ability and temperment to do.) Not accurate to even refer to me as a "newbie" as again I probably have played longer and more successfully than the vast majority of people on this board. That doesn't make me always right in my comments or opinions but it certainly eliminates the issue of experience. |

Most of my one liners aren't meant to be taken seriously. But thanks for reading my blog. Let's try to get back to Sklansky in this thread. I was happy for him and his 3rd place finish. I actually respect his play and I think he can play with anyone else in the world and would actually destroy the competition on a show like High Stakes Poker because he would win the battle of mistakes. |
Re: Sklansky making a run at Borgata...
Yeah...but it wasn't a coinflip...Obviously coming in 3rd in a WPT is a great accomplishment and I didnt mean anything negative against him in my comment.

[/ QUOTE ] Curious thought process - post verbosity equates to respect? Whatever sir, I was simply trying to point out an obvious non sequitur of your inaccurate statements. I suggest you spend time refuting my comments if you believe them erroneous rather than building a straw man argument in an attempt to minimize them. I am quite comfortable and confident in my play history and knowledge of the game so your "respect" or lack there of is of no consequence to me. Candidly this thread has gotten WAY OFF point for which I am significantly to blame. I reacted with entirely to much vigor to bshecks characterization of Sklansky's style of play as I took it as a belittlement of a man and style that has rewarded me handsomely over the years. I have then compounded my guilt by "defending" myself from meaningless commentary such as yours. I actually agree with bsheck's last comments of "Let's try to get back to Sklansky in this thread" so I will not further compound my error by replying again. |

Re: Sklansky making a run at Borgata...
I too am curious as to the posters reasoning. As from the original post it does NOT appear that at anytime Jennifer turned her hand up so rule 29 would not seem to apply.
29 Dealers cannot kill a winning hand that was turned face up and was obviously the winning hand. I can only think that he believes rule 1 would trump all objections of giving her half the pot when she voluntarily discarded her hand on an obvious chop. 1 Floor people are to consider the best interest of the game and fairness as the top priority in the decision-making process. Unusual circumstances can, on occasion, dictate that the technical interpretation of the rules be ignored in the interest of fairness. The floorperson's decision is final. (Note, this rule used to be rule #31, but TDA members voted to move it to rule #1.) However I cannot recall a situation where I have personally seen a voluntarily mucked hand that was never exposed was allowed to play in the tourney's I have been in. I assume it has happened with some bizarre/unusual set of circumstances that makes it proper. I've seen some pretty illogical rulings but not this one. |

I'm not sure what the ruling would be since her hand was not tabled but touching the muck isn't what kills a hand. |
