wisdom teeth

Just got all 4 out this morning, and I'm in SO MUCH PAIN. Anyone have any advice? I'm on percocet/pescription strength advil and have been icing both sides, but it still hurts more than watching Happy Days jump the shark.

Less like crying, more like screaming as loud as I can.

Take more drugs. Other than that, not much you can do.

My gf just had her wisdom teeth out...eat the softest foods you can find for at least three or four days. Pudding, mac and cheese, stuff like that. She ate pizza on day four and it was too hard and hot to handle. What else did they tell her...don't drink through a straw, some other stuff. GL.

Thanks- I literally don't remember anything since sitting in the chair until I woke up in my bed.

Would booze work, or would the alcohol sting when it contacts your tender gums? (That and the liver damage when combining it with painkillers)

Re: wisdom teeth

First do painkillers and after that do booze. It will work.

Been in same situation... just cry man, there's not much you can do, seriously.

When my wife had her wisdom teeth out, she of course ate stuff like applesauce and pudding for the first couple days. She still felt like crap after two or three days, but she really wanted solid food.

I went out and got a bag of Krystal Chiks, gave her one, and she was cured. Seriously. She felt 100% better after that.

Eat Krystal Chiks.

Re: wisdom teeth

All 4 at once seems brutal. Just take the pain meds and you'll feel better in a few days.

* oh yea, those 'take 1 pill every 4-6 hrs.' recommendations are lame. I start with 4 and proceed from there. YMMV.

I had all 4 of mine taken out and they were all impacted. I didnt even get perc, I got tylenol w/ codine. Which are super weak. I iced it and dealt with it. Jesus man, pull yourself together! It's not that bad.

Get drunk and play some live poker, that's what I did.

Not much to do except whatever you can to take your mind off it.

Krantz: Motrin is my pain killer of choice

This morning I had a root canal but it wasnt so bad. Then again, I am super tuff and I have a leather jacket. You can learn a lot from me if you study hard.

Step 1: Buy a leather jacket.
Step 2: Be tougher because of it.
Step 3: Drink lots of cold water. Not sure why, but cold water going down the food tube makes it feel better, at least while you're drinking it.

I had 7 wisdom teeth removed - anyone beat that?

fwiw I had virtually no recovery period at all. I wanted to go out that night, but my mom wouldn't let me.

I had mine out (4) on August 14th. I felt pain on the first day, after that it was pretty mild and not too big a deal.

I will say, the best meal I have had in a long time was the first meal of solid food (about 4 days after the surgery). Only spaghetti, but food has never tasted so damn good. you've got that to look forward to.

I had mine out when I was 15. First day sucked, because it was really hard to swallow the Vicodin horse pills they gave me.

The Vicodin made me hallucinate though, so that was cool.

That's why you should go asap, I am in the same situation as you (but I still see my dentist). You risk getting an infection and besides, if they're in, it's not that bad, he just as to slice up the gums a bit.

My dentist said that ibupropen with vicodin has a synergistic effect making it the best pain relief option for dental patients. I prefer advil to perscription ibupropen. I just keep taking them till the pain goes away.

the best advice i can give you is take what ever pain med your dentist gave you and go to bed for the next 48 hrs, you'll be up as good as new

Call in for a repeat script ahead of running out, that way you can decrease the interval if it is really that bad, and not worry about running out.

Had all four of mine removed as well. I wasn't in pain at all...I think it was the painkillers I was given...or a I had a good surgeon.
