This pot got big pretty quick!!! (10-20 bellagio)
 

I don't know much about villian 1 in this hand but i haven't seen anything noteworthy in the few minutes he's been at the table. He has $4900. Villian 2 ($7000) seems good and laggish. He's capable of a wide range here: I have about $5500 to start the hand.

MP limps, LMP limps (villian 1), I limp from the cutoff with A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Villian 2 raises to $160 from the big blind and LMP and myself call.

Flop ($510) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Villian 1 leads out for $400, villian 2 quickly makes it $1200, hero thinks for a moment, counts down villian 2, and shoves...

Thoughts?

yea i screwed that up....Villian 1 is LMP with 4900 to start the hand....He's the one who raised to $1200 on the flop. Let's just refer to them as LMP and BB as i've confused myself

"I'm pretty sure i'm ahead of BB but what about LMP? AA or TT don't make sense. 22 makes sense but i have a 2. AT, maybe? but would he limp and then call a big raise with AT? Maybe if it's suited. But maybe if i shove he'll think about laying down AT. After all, what the hell is he going to put me on? Well, i might be screwed here, but WTF, let's GAMBOOOL"

As long as you understanding you are basically bluffing/protecting with this strong hand here with an overbet....

Yea, i also figured there was no way i could get LMP to put another dime in with a worse hand so i thought my only real options were to push or fold.

Huh? If that's true, then pushing seems terrible. That is, it seems like you can safely call the flop and fold the turn. (Even if it's not literally true that he won't put in any more money without AT+, there seem to be other advantages of just calling: getting away if a T hits and so forth.) Nor do I see any real need to force BB to pay $4k instead of $800.

In the real world where you might get moved off the best hand + villain might hit his kicker + whatever, shoving seems OK, but can you explain that bit a little more?

wait, now I am confused. is the preflop raiser the guy who raised to 1200 on the flop? that is a very very critical factor in this hand.

I think that if the preflop raiser is the one who makes it 1200, you can be pretty sure you are good, and I like your play, but if the guy who makes it 1200 was NOT the preflop raiser, I would tend towards a fold.

If it is the former, you could also consider just calling the 1200 to make sure the flop bettor does not come back over the top. Although you won't be too happy with a king, ten, or maybe a queen on the turn.

if villain 2 has AK which matches the action perfectly, and he is a typical marginal live player, he will call after about 3 seconds of thought.

I'm pretty concerned about LMP here. Unless you think he'll limp AK/AQ AND raise the flop with them, I suspect you're in trouble here. and he's never folding AT or a set.

Yea, i guess it's best to just fold this flop due to how deep i am and reverse implied odds. LMP ended up thinking for a long time and folded.

That is why I gave my alternative option. That being said, it would suck to just call, have LMP fold, and then see a king or ten on the turn. Based on that, I think pushing and calling (with the intention of folding if LMP reraises) have roughly equal EV. I think I like pushing by a small margin.
