\"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (9/11) (10-20 NL)

Tonight's show is back to the standard game they've been airing the past few weeks, 10-20 NL with a 1k min, no max buyin. With David "I Gotta Tell Ya" Tuchman over in London, it's the Killer B's, Bart and Bostin doing the announcing this week on the show. To those who cared to watch the archives from Friday's show, that went up today it seems. Hopefully the various other issues that were discussed in other threads over the weekend, maybe those were resolved as well. As always, the action starts shortly after 10pm ET over at www.liveatthebike.com

Alan's horseshoe slipped, strange he checked the turn when the 3rd diamond hit the turn., letting Nam hit his 10 on the river.

Beat me to the horseshoe comment. I think Alan should have bet more on the flop (he bet something like ~200 into a 800 pot, correct?).

He bet 220 on the flop. Like Bart mentioned, betting out on the flop isn't SOP with Alan.

Okay, douchebag, I never said it was rigged. I said it was a set up as a promotional tool. They will play real poker, I just don't believe there are going to be loses of any significance. Yes Phil Ivey is travelling over there. BFD. He is part of Full Tilt. You mean he can't be coaxed into traveling to London as part of his contract with FT? Get real. Bart, you were passed over because you pale in comparison to Tuchman, don't take it out on me.

And as far as me being mad that I did not get in, I gave up on playing when I learned everyone was from FT, and saw ---EV for me. So get over it!

I gave props to FT for their marketing savvy and you spin it that I am pissed and feel the whole thing is rigged. You are unbelievable!

Bostin, you are still the best. Now get rid of that fat, pale porn loving partner and the show will improve tremendously!

Speaking of 6-3, anyone (probably Kevmath) remember the date of that huge hand that involves these two cards and Alan (and I believe, Corp. Mike)?

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (9/11) (10-20 NL)

Barry,

Reading over your posts in the thread, your opinions were:

- there won't be any significant losses
- players making "donkey moves for entertainment value"
- players may not putting up their own money

Some may say those points you state make HSP UK as being "rigged". Saying that they were "infomercials" (like you did) seems more appropriate. FTP has done this numerous times in the US (ie. FTP at the Wynn, Red Rock, the Play Poker with the Pros series).

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (9/11) (10-20 NL)

Kev, happy birthday!

Semantics, schmantics! I never meant to impune the integrity of the UK HSP, only to state my opinion that it was being conducted strictly for publicity. I am really interested to see a) if there are large loses, and b) if we ever can find out of it is their own money.

If all the owners of a company are putting on a show to drum up bsuiness in a foreign market, if that venture is successful and enriches their coffers to an unbeleivable degree when compared to the investment, and if those "owners" consequently share in that enrichment, are they REALLY using their own money? Just a query

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (9/11) (10-20 NL)

Bart, I did sort of answer the question. 1) It depends on so much that you haven't specified that I can't answer even approximately. 2) I have un-memorized all my tables and lost them to boot. That was 20 years ago.

Game theory is a fairly recent branch of mathematics pioneered by John Von Neumann. It's pretty involved stuff. (Didja know old Jive has a masters' degree in math?)

Thanks - I'd been poking about in the Archives from around that time and heard Bart mention it as a very recent event.

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (9/11) (10-20 NL)

The word you want is "probability", not "game theory."

Figuring out a good number to call the probability that none of the remaining players in that hand had the case ace would not be straight forward. You would have to use the Bayes theorem along with WAG estimates of how likely people would be to fold a weak ace, and how likely people would be to continue in the hand lacking the case ace. But it's still probability, not game theory.

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (9/11) (10-20 NL)

I guess they did, which makes sense, since they're usually starting a little late.

On another note, the 2/8 show doesn't note the "That's Alan" hand. Also, the archives aren't totally accurate. They could use Bostin's spreadsheet to make some corrections, like 4/7/05.

Alan didn't know not to show cards when there are three people in the hand? I assume he knows now.

Jive Dadson 09-12-2006 12:25 AM

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (9/11) (10-20 NL)

I've seen a lot of players throwing their cards away when it's their turn in multiway pots when there's no action to them, rather than checking. I suppose it's because of the "fold" button online. A couple of nights ago, I "politely" told a guy not to do that. He angrily said he was within his rights to do whatever he wanted to with his hand, and to mind my own business. The dealer backed him up. The next time I took a break, I found a senior floorman, who straightened it out. The local rule was, first offense: warning; second offense: dealt out one round; third offense, out for the night. I asked a new floorman about it yesterday. He didn't know the rule either.
