Re: Songs that put tears in your eyes.

Off The Top Of MY Head- add some reasoning to them

Radiohead: Thinking about you and Creep (reminds me of my first mayor relationship pretty much)
NIN or Jonny Cash (esp with video): Hurt (It had to be here)
Tool acoustic NIN cover: Terrible Lie (I had this on my Ipod and it was on shuffle when a good friend was in hospital in a critical condition with pnumonia, there were a few of us just sitting in my front room, this played and nobody spoke for about an 30 mins afterwards, that was a sad time)
Megadeth - Tout Le Monde (Its just a very sad song)
Wish You were Here: Pink Floyd (Another one that had to be here)
Vera: Pink Floyd (This is a wierd one, I dont know why but it always effects me when I listen to it, there must be somthing but I cant put my finger on it)
Stevie Ray VAughan- Life By The Drop (reminds me of leaving school, best friend moving to the middle east and me going off into the big wide world of film school- happy but sad time, probably my most vivid memory of a track ever was this being played; me and a few friends had just left the 'official' school leaving party and there was an afterparty at mine, this is played and i think it was the moment that we all realized we had to grow up. Shame I never did)
Way Beyond Empty -Zakk Wylde (This just kinda reminds me of a summer when I was about 15-16, not a care in the world, no responsibility, to commitments- drinking nearly every night and hanging out with friends every day- this was on 'Book Of Shaddows' Album which was basicly what we played every morning when we got up after a heavy night, insane memories.)

Sometimes kinda happy songs make me wanna cry too, I dunno.

The Band - Atlantic City (post-Robbie version of the Springsteen song, blows the original away IMO)

The Band feat. the Staples Singers - The Weight - such a [censored] good version of this song, gets me every time

The Pogues - The Body of an American, The Band Played Waltzing Matilda, some others

Tom Waits - Come on Up to the House, Cold Cold Ground

The Holmes Brothers - None But the Righteous, Amazing Grace, Train Song

When Thom Yorke recorded this song, they did only 2 recordings. The first recording is the song actually on the album. The 2nd recording he broke down into tears in the middle of it and couldn't finish.

There's a version of "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" on the '61-'62 Doc Watson/Clarence Ashley Folkways recordings that's very emotional. Probably the best "Amazing Grace" I've ever heard on that one too.

One that always gives me the chills is "Mission in the Rain"
by J. Garcia.

This chick can really wail, but the song is such a bad butt-rock power ballad other than that it doesn't really get me. I won't change the station though.

I saw Arlo in concert about 15 years ago and I didn't even know that this song had so many verses. He's been singing it for probably 50 years now and he does it so nice. One of the best concert experiences ever for me. Bob Dylan and Miles Davis were more memorable experiences, but just barely. My only Gratefl Dead concert was an experience too, but that's another story.

quel qu'un m'a dit::carla bruni

it's in french, but it's absolutely heartbreaking. the key line is 'somebody told me you still love me, could it be true?' she sounds so much like she wants it to be true, but knows it's not.

i know needle in the hay is the classic elliot smith depressing song reply, because of it's use in the suicide scene in royal tenenbaums, but i think king's crossing is way, way more depressing. his girlfriend is on the track, begging him not to kill himself, even.

enough cryin::mary j blige

this gets me every time too. dunno why.
