Given the retarded way college football voting works, losing this game is bad but not real bad for NC hopes. A week 2 loss to a top 5 team is not a disqualifier, only WV looks like a real shot to go undefeated.

As long as the game is close, the winning team doesn't implode and no one goes undefeated (other than the winner of this game), it definitely is possible.

If Texas loses, I imagine they will still win the remainder of their games and finish with a one loss season.

If tOSU loses, they have a much more difficult schedule, and I could see them losing another game.


I find it very interesting this board thinks tOSU will come into Austin and take this win. For every question about UT (Colt McCoy being able to handle the pressure, the CB situation) you have to question OSUs D even more.

I'm a huge OSU fan, but I can't see how we get out of Austin with a win.

To say this is a big game would be an understatement. The ticket prices are at least around $300+ for a seat. The friday news showed many Buckeyes that have invaded Austin for the weekend. The entire city is hyped for this game. ESPN College Gameday is here, Vegas even has a narrow spread for the game, so anything can happen.

Keys for Texas:
Use your offensive line to your advantage, keep pushing the run.
Don't get burned by the deep passing ball
Use the talent on your Defense to apply the pressure.

Keys for Ohio St:
Blitz Colt McCoy heavily. He is a freshman, and is a smart QB, but he will have to run for his life
Your QB and RB can apply the option very well with their speed
Texas is fast, but overall, your team is faster.

This should be a great game to watch. I think Texas will win, but it won't surprise me at all if Ohio St comes away with the victory.

OSU-28 UT-14 But it will look close than the game actually was with Texas scoring a meaningless touch in the las minute and a half of the game. OSU will control the entire game.

i would be surprised if osu won. def is very inexperienced and will face a tough line and tough rbs from texas.

texas d is experienced and was very good last yr. osu will put up points but i think texas will be very capable of getting stops when they need to.

playing at home, in very hot weather is a huge advantage to texas.

I'm not going to lie, I always thought it was to differentiate tOSU with Oregon and Oklahoma state, which always struck me as odd given that at least in football Ohio State is what comes to mind for most people when they hear OSU. Since I'm from Oregon (though I did not go to OSU) that's not the case, so maybe that's why I thought that. I guess it's because people write tOSU a lot more often than the Ohio State University.

I think it all depends where you are from b/c I am from Texas and grew up in Big XII country and when I hear OSU I think of Oklahoma State Univ. This is also because I know 0 people that go/went to Ohio State/Oregon State and tons that went to Oklahoma State and so you hear OSU thrown around much more in reference to Stillwater.

Plus, you hear the Big XII weekend matchups each week (down south) and it is always OU vs. OSU etc. So for me I think of Oklahoma State b/c of where I grew up...note that I think that school sucks.

The use of "The.." predates the legal issues with Ohio U. That's just the excuse people give nowdays, but it doesn't hold up historically. The spat didn't begin until 1995 and it was used before then.

It's more then likely been used to try and give the school elite status in the state of Ohio. So, yeah the prententious "we're better then you " theroy is probably correct.

Yes I know it predates the legal issues, but prior ot the legal issues there was confusion between the two and neither one really liked being identified as the other one. I have been on both sides of this as both of my parents went to OSU and I went to OU as did most of my extended family. The first I saw it as "The Ohio State Unversity" was around 1983 on some alumni stuff of my mother's.

Although Texas can clearly run the ball on tOSU, I don't understand why this means Texas will win. They clearly are having a whole bunch of trouble stopping the buckeye passing game, and it looks like they could score a lot.

It's amazing that this game is only 7-0 because neither defense has been impressive. Obviously OSU missed a scoring chance missing a field goal and Texas had the fumble. I would expect to see quite a few points put up tonight.
