25-50 TT vs. BooostedJ

Game is 7 handed, effective stacks 5k.

I'm in the cutoff with TT, BJ raises in front of me to 175, i make 600, blinds fold he calls.

Flop comes 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. He checks, i bet 1000, he calls.

Turn comes 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Pot is 3275, i have 3300 behind. He checks... I?

betting a king doesnt seem like a bad idea, either

betting again here btw isnt necessarily bad, just matters if he can make big folds with QQ and such. (if you label his hand range to JJ, QQ, KK, AA, if he lays down half of those to an all in, a bluff would be quite profitable... however alot of people who are at that point with QQ wouldnt fold it, so who knows!)

or maybe a K. But I might call a blank push, although I cant see him playing 88-99 this way, so maybe I fold a blank push, but def. check now.

I don't know OP, or what his image was at the time in detail, but I personally don't try to bluff someone off QQ at this point. Not saying it's wrong, but typically with my image is useless.

Also, I'm not so sure betting king rivers is so +EV.

ansky, the thinking about betting an ace is repping ak, obv. a king works the same as an ace, the exception being AA is now more likely.

i agree pushing people off QQ is not a good idea. i would never get that fold. but its something to thing about.

Re: 25-50 TT vs. BooostedJ

Bobbo,

We are repping a lot more hands with an ace than with a king.

this really depends on how loose our 3 betting range is and how much of this BJ knows

just calling preflop and playing for a smaller pot is reasonable (and perhaps preferable). as you played it, I think you are more or less pot comitted with that board, so I'd go ahead and put the rest in on the turn. you price out any draw, and you might even get JJ or QQ to fold.

Re: 25-50 TT vs. BooostedJ

I usually push turn here and get check-called by JJ+. It's getting seriously irritating, actually.

Kirk

PS. In other words, check turn, hope for an A on the river.

check here, if he bets the river it's a fold.

Check turn. Also like call pf.

[/ QUOTE ]

Quite loose, which he knows. Also his calling range even oop is pretty loose. I kinda thought i didn't even have to mention this cause BJ is quite well known and people know how these shorthanded games play, but for some reason most people put him straight on JJ+ (which is silly).

This doesn't mean it's not still a check, but i definately thought a suited connector (pair+gutshot, two pair, straight) or 99 or lower PP likely. And the turn check really puzzled me.

I think that betting the turn as a bluf is bad.

I don't understand. You expect him to usually lead turn after c/c'ing flop?

People who think Boosted's range after the flop c/c is JJ+ are dead wrong

Jason Strasser (strassa2) 09-09-2006 12:41 PM

Re: 25-50 TT vs. BooostedJ

Boosted has an extremely wide range here. He calls reraises preflop with an insanely wide range and he will sometimes call down light esp on boards like this. I think a push has value, and those thinking that QQ JJ fold here are wrong.
