What are all of the different tournament result tracking sites?
The only one I know of is sharkscope.com, but I've seen people quote my results on UB, Party, etc...
Is there a complete list anywhere? |

Re: What are all of the different tournament result tracking sites?
As far as I can tell, thepokerdb.com is not very useful --- all it shows are tournaments that the person has placed in, so there is no way to evaluate ability, just how "much" they play. By far the best tournament result tracking site IMHO is officialpokerranking.com. It ranks players based on performance, keeps track of every tournament they play (on Paradise it tracks back to November 2005, on Party to March 2006), and seems reasonable in how it rates players. The only problem with it is it only ranks Party Poker and Paradise.

But how do the rest of us get to that info? |

I probably shouldn't discuss it much on 2+2 just because of their advertising policies. But my pride wouldn't let me stand by idly when someone says that OPR has a better interface. I wish pokerdb has a ranking system. If there is, let me know. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, if you don't have them little stars thingies (like, um, this player is 8 stars out of 10 ZOMG) then the site is useless. USELESS, I TELL YA. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yea, I'm still not sure exactly what the point of a ranking system is. Just looking at the numbers in the sample link shown above should tell you what you need to know, especially after you look around for a bit. The bottom line is that poker is really not a rankable type event on an overall basis. Obviously you can say X player has the most profit or Y player has the best ROI, but you can't say Z player is the best overall. It's way too subjective and pretty much meaningless in terms of evaluating the people you're playing against. |

My only reason to look at is to understand the range of events top players (money wise, ITM %, ROI % etc.) play and how often they win. I don't care about those funny stars. I also would like to see the top players (again money, ROI, ITM) based on a particular criteria, say all 55$ tourneys etc. To me pokerdb is only showing me "select data where player_id='x'" (ok, that's a messed up SQL statement, if you know what I mean). I would like to do all kinds of queries to get a sense of these stats. |
Re: What are all of the different tournament result tracking sites?
ranking systems are useless, all these chumps who have way more volume than i do but half the skills get all the rankers and fanboys hard, when my ROI and ability to move up have clearly shown i am probably one of the five to seven best players in tournament poker today

I would like to query the database based on a particular criteria (like who has highest ROI in 55$ tourneys etc.) not those stupid stars. |

As for interface - as an IT professional - I'd recommend finding 8-10 stats people look at the most and presenting them on a summary page (initial lookup) and let them drill down further if they want to. SharkScope kinda has a right idea interface-wise, IMO. |

Especially at pocket 5s. It only ranks registered users, how gay. Im sure their are alot of players who are deserving but just don't have the exposure. |

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks, I mean I'm not really seriously questioning my ability, I just find the standards people use to measure these things funny. If I had better PR you might have seen me on P5s and the WSOP broadcasts by now. But I just try to play my game. I also looked up some of the top players tonight and found that many of them play like 2-3x the volume I do, which explains their exposure. I'm pretty content to do what I do, because the people who know, know. |

Nath, no offense, but posting in this thread multiple times undermines all the comments you are making about not caring.

Can thepokerdb tell you anything more about a person besides the tournaments where they cashed? I was hoping to find the total losses of a few friends of mine so I could mock them >_>

OPR gives way more info than pokerdb.
