Enormous wealth... what would you do with it?
 

I've seen a lot of "what would you do with $1-$20 million" type threads, but I have yet to see one about what people would do with massive wealth.

Describe the next steps in your life if all of a sudden I pressed a button and wired $10 billion of tax free cash into your checking account.

I think 10 million and 10 billion would amount to roughly the same thing for me unfortunatly. A giant pile of coke and an early funeral.

I would buy a G5. Fly to vegas. Pay for all my friends to meet me there. Play high stakes craps with hookers, good liquor, and lots of blow. Once I got bored of that I would buy an island and use it as my home base while I travel around the world and have sex with different girls from all over the world.

Any plans I had would be based around sex, drugs, alcohol, and good music.

1 Billion - Hidden offshore reserve
1 billion - invested conservativly to live off of
4 Billion - invested in all sorts of fun businesses i've always wanted to be a part off.
1 billion - start my own charity
1 billion - "fun fund" - drugs/orgies, rides in foreign space shuttles, weekend flights to paris, etc
100 mil - poker bankroll
900 mil - recreational gambling roll
1 billion - distribute to various family members

Oh yeah i'm pretty sure i would hadly ever play poker any more. -EV gambling is so much more fun. I might play some live semi-high stakes just to donk around, but def no more internet poker.

-Invest a good % of it.

-buy ridiculous possesions and some sweet houses

-Start a charitable foundadtion and endow it with maybe 2-3 billion. either through this or by different means, give between .5 and 1 billion for medical research (cancer, stem cell)

-hookers, blow, insane partying

-badass yatch for the mediteranean

-private jet

-give a ton of my family

-allow close friends to live off me and party (i.e. give them high paying "jobs")

I would invest 5bil of it, so that as soon as Cuba becomes free, I could have the first casino&resort on the island.

I would use 2bil of it to work on creating a new independent party that works to change the system, just think of the libertarian party, with a bit of tempering, and a bit less desire for pure and complete anarchy.

I would give 1bil to mine and my wife's families.

The remaining 2bil I would buy just about everything I could ever want, to include my own private Gulfstream with pilot and groundcrew, ready to go anytime, and anywhere I need.

As the casino brought further billions, I would look at putting additional major resorts/casinos down in beautiful if prior to their arrival somewhat underdeveloped areas, like Montenegro, Croatia, etc...

i would get some new scissors, because the ones i have now dont cut that well, and sometimes if the paper is thin, it just kind of folds and goes between the blades.

I love cooking way, way, way too much to do that.

Lessons from Blumenthal and others, plus a top class kitchen I may consider splashing out on, but I'm happy pootling through cookbooks and experimenting as I am.

This is an important consideration. When dealing with large sums of money like this, your utility is probably exactly the same whether you keep it all for yourself or split it between 20 of your closest friends and family members, but why spoil so many people? That's just irresponsible. Keep the money to yourself.

When dealing with large sums of money like this, your utility is probably exactly the same whether you keep it all for yourself or split it between 20 of your closest friends and family members, but why spoil so many people?
