Why I think online poker IS rigged.

They rig online poker because they have to to survive.

Some people think they rig it out of greed, to maximize rake, but that's not true.

Do you really think they can allow expert players to hop on multiple tables at 70 hands per hour and win all the money from the recreational players? The recreational players would quickly get discouraged and quit. These people, who want to play every hand they are dealt, are the vast majority of the online sites business and any site that doesn't rig the game so they can stay in it will go bankrupt in no time. A business must cater to the vast majority of its customers. Not to a small minority.

After playing online try playing live at a real casino. You will quickly notice some odd differences. For example, people who play every hand they are dealt, lose their chips and have to buy more instead of you losing your chips to them. I swear I've seen it with my own eyes.

Since all gambling results should have variance - I can imagine that the first time when playing a gambling game, even as a losing proposition, it is pretty natural for at some time early on to have profit (because of the swings) but as time passes this gets less and less probable for a -EV player/game.

I'd guess that this plausible variance profit slowly dwindling into losses away as statistics chews along is probably 99% of the reason behind 'rigged' theories.

The beats are the same live. I watched a guy play every hand for 2 hours and make $300 at 2/4 and bounce.

I have to be honest arguments that online poker is rigged are ridiculous. Anyone could parse the numbers and see if things were happening where they shouldn't and then the site would be vulnerable to litigation because the EULA guarantees a fair random number generator.

hey i'm not sure how poker works but if you're losing all your money to [censored] players, doesn't that mean you suck ass and should die?

If online poker is rigged, how do they choose who the winning players are?

It always seems like the guys posting hands, talking about strategy, and examining the game and trying to improve seem to be the winners.

Whatever software the poker sites are using to detect this intellect and rig the game for these players is quite impressive.

Easy.

If you win, they make you lose. Then, because you are losing, they let you win...
