Wow... that lineup looks better than anything we've seen on HSP so far!

Re: UK HSP. phil ivey set to play. wheeeeeeeeee

The line-up is impressive, in attendance will be a host of stars from Full Tilt Poker, including:

Phil Ivey
Gus Hansen
Howard Lederer
Erik Seidel
Jennifer Harman
John Juanda
Mike Matusow
Erik Lindgren
Chris Ferguson

Wonder if Lederer is coming out of his cash game semi-retirement or just announcing.

check me and Bart Hanson out at www.liveatthebike.com - We'll be talking about it from time to time.

honestly i dont like these full tilt shows so much, they come off as fake and one giant infomercial for Full Tilt. perhaps not this time.

Besides moving to England, you'll probably won't be able to see it. It's airing on Sky in January 07, then AllIn Sports in May.

I wonder if full tilt is fronting their buy-ins this time; they must at least be getting an hourly rate.

Some good soul in the UK has got to rip this and post it somewhere. But don't post a link, that would be wrong.

They should just call it high stakes euro or something. Although I love seeing ivey and the others play, they should get UK people in here like Surinder, Devilfish, etc.

Surinder would get destroyed but Devilfish would be a lot of fun to see, also the Hendon Mob guys. I know Ram plays a ton of cash games online, he should be set to roll.

There *really* needs to be a televised cash game with the "name pros" (Doyle, Full Tilt crew, etc.) against internet pros (H@ll, Prahlad, GP, aba, etc.)

Also they need Parg Parkinson to do commentary, that guy is hillarious.

Re: UK HSP. phil ivey set to play. wheeeeeeeeee

Blinds will be $400-$800 with a $100 ante. Min buy-in is $100,000 - but apparantly most of the players will have much more.

as for the show being picked up in the States - it's already happened. We are filming a .com version for the UK and a .net version for the States.

It should be crazy fun - you won't have to wait to watch it...I'll be talking about it when I get back on live at the bike. I wish Bart Hanson was going with me - he really is the best play by play guy out there. But...politics and other crap happened, so it's just me this time.

I agree Tuck you and Bart just work very well together. Mostly because you know when to give the other guy space to finish thoughts. Great to hear that we will get to see it over here.

Kevmath you know as well as I do just because its airing over there doesnt mean I wouldnt be able to watch it here. Just makes it more if a challenge.

Re: UK HSP. phil ivey set to play. wheeeeeeeeee

Hmmm. As much as I'm looking forward to this, it does seem a bit like a Full Tilt infomercial as it's stacked so heavily with FT heavyhitters (Ferguson? Ivey? Seidel? WAH!? Why don't they appear on HSP!?!?).

Tony G's play will be interesting. He's stuck over $400,000 in Japan.

Ram Vaswani is probably a good shout as to who'd dare have a go. I have no idea of the significance of Devilfish's US TV ban after the Thanksgiving fiasco...it might make him a no-no even though it's technically a UK TV show.

I wouldn't restrict it to just the British who might appear. London's a darn sight nearer for European pros than Las Vegas is so we may see a few European players (c'mon Patrik Antonius and David Benyamine!).

...if it's mainly the FT pros plus one or two random elements, this show could get old really, really fast.

Is the $400/$800 blinds a slight dig at the $300/$600 blinds of HSP!?

Surprised Sky Sports/All In didn't pick a British-based guy to do the play-by-play though and then go with a US commentator for the US broadcast.

You're gonna have a lot of people in the UK wondering who you are, Dave as to why you're the only guy commentating.

Good luck though. If you've seen/heard any of the commentary on the British poker shows, you've got nothing to worry about.

It'll make a refreshing change from watching fricking shootouts (it's all there are in the UK it seems. ).

Re: UK HSP. phil ivey set to play. wheeeeeeeeee

I really can't see this than anything other than an infomercial by Full Tilt. Surely they are staking these guys, what other reason is there for the whole full Team squad to be in this?

I'm not getting to excited about this one, to be honest. Instead I'm getting kind of angry... dunno why... maybe its the music I'm listening to.

Its a ban from Fox TV.

In some tourney he was in showed live on Fox (sports?) when he got knocked out he took off his top and revealed a devilfishpoker.com t-shirt underneath.

As the event was exclusively sponsored by some poker site this pissed off Fox to such a degree they banned Devilfish from their networks.

I have no other details as i only read this in an interview i read in a mag here in the UK and they didnt give huge amounts of detail.

That would've been the FullTiltPoker.net tournament from Monte Carlo this past Thanksgiving, although I don't recall seeing the T-shirt on the US feed.

As stated - it'll be me doing color and gary jones doing pbp.

as for devilfish - I don't think he's welcome there either - he hasn't endeared himself to many a producer anywhere.

the game is filled with a bunch of full tilt guys - but I don't think that should change anything - there will be a few players that are not affiliated with fulltilt - and either way, these guys should play real hard against each other.

I don't think Ivey cares who's money he wins - do you? I'm trying to get as much information on the players as possible - if any of you have any interesting tidbits of info that might help, I'd be most appreciative.

As much as I like Victoria Coren, I'm not a fan of her commentary where she emulates Jesse May's strangulated similes far too much for my liking.

Marc Goodwin as you probably know:

* Nickname is 'Mr Cool'
* Used to be a double glazing salesman.
* An Omaha cash game player (he said in UK gambling magazine Inside Edge that 'Omaha's my game. Hold'em's just brain dead. People walk away from my table saying, "I can't believe he called my raise with 6-8". That's 'cos I get bored').
* Loves to see flops.
* The father of 5 kids.
* Finished second to Annie Duke in the World Series of Roshambo 2006.
* Highest cash in a tournament is his 3rd place finish last year in the Monte Carlo Millions.

Also, do people really want to watch devilfish play?

Re: UK HSP. phil ivey set to play. wheeeeeeeeee

Cash game environment could prove to be a different kettle of fish though. WPT Bad Boys II was fun though.

Devilfish? Yeah, why not? He's got a website to promote. It may be in his interest to promote it any which way he can...and it'd be fun to watch.

Roland De Wolfe will be familiar to hardcore WPT viewers (he's appearing if you're wondering).
