Favorite sport to watch?
I'm really only interested in the major sports. Basketball, Football, Baseball, Hockey, and Soccer. But I'll include most of the sports I can think of just for the sake of completeness. So don't bitch at me for including stuff like golf.

Re: Favorite sport to watch?
any sport where one guy is beating the crap out of the other guy. i voted for ufc
|
Re: Favorite sport to watch?
You really ought to split this into watching in person vs. watching on TV, that makes a huge difference IMO.
Also, this should probably be in the sports forum. Swede |
Re: Favorite sport to watch?

Re: Favorite sport to watch?
Voted hockey but has to be playoffs otherwise American football or golf
|
Re: Favorite sport to watch?
breaking football and basketball into college and pro could have been useful too because they're so different.

Re: Favorite sport to watch?
I like watching Pride FC but since I really don't like watching UFC I voted soccer, it seems like one of the most watchable sports out there. I always settle and watch it when I see it, despite not being a huge fan.

Re: Favorite sport to watch?
Women's volleyball.
|
Re: Favorite sport to watch?
If baseball had a means of getting the coverage that the NFL does, it would be MLB. As of now nothing really comes close to the NFL. Tennis is pretty good though, I think.

Re: Favorite sport to watch?
Anyone who doesn't pick American football is either mentally challenged or has very little experience watching it.

Re: Favorite sport to watch?
It's not about the sport- it's about the dramatic situation and the stars involved. Crappy sports is crappy sports, while any sport being highly contested between extremely talented competitors is very entertaining.

Re: Favorite sport to watch?
College football specifically. I cannot stand the NFL.

Anyone who doesn't pick American football is either mentally challenged or has very little experience watching it. [/ QUOTE ] I am neither. I just find watching it about as boring as watching any other sport. I do watch football, though, of course. And, I enjoy watching most of the time. I just can't watch too much of it. This is basically how I feel about most sports. Note: Football is best observed in the company of a group f friends, with beer and a BBQ. Sundays do lend themselves nicely to this combination. And, I am likely not to get bored in such an event. However, what I said above about finding it boring definitely holds true if I try to take the game too seriously. |
Re: Favorite sport to watch?
if this is just pros and not ncaa then i think nfl prolly takes it with soccer, golf and basketball close behind. i guess ufc is somewhere in there, it's pretty fun to watch.
if ncaa was included i think college basketball would take it |

College football specifically. I cannot stand the NFL. [/ QUOTE ] When I was younger (middle school) I thought college > NFL. But oh man. The games are just so damn long. Quit stopping the clock every 1st down already. I voted basketball. If I subscribed to a soccer package, it'd probably be that. |
Re: Favorite sport to watch?
I'm a big football/baseball fan, with hockey a very distant third, but when thinking of my answer I went with which I'd prefer to see live.
Hockey won, hands down. |

Re: Favorite sport to watch?
Soccer or baseball #1 depending on what I feel like except for during March. College basketball is great.

College football specifically. I cannot stand the NFL. [/ QUOTE ] I really don't understand this. I can understand if you don't like football at all, or prefer one or the other (I prefer the NFL), but I don't understand loving one and hating the other. FWIW, the NFL is a lot more complex, and I find it a lot more interesting. But I definitely enjoy college football. |
Re: Favorite sport to watch?
how the [censored] can anyone say that ncaa football/basketball is better than NFL/NBA?
(the only acceptable answer i have is that you go to the school and aren't a real sports fan but like the excitement of games or something.) |
Re: Favorite sport to watch?
1.baseball
2.nfl 3.cfb there's no sport that i fine excruciatingly boring. is there something wrong with me? |
Re: Favorite sport to watch?
I actually much prefer college basketball to the NBA. The atmosphere, especially during March Madness is just amazing.

Football is debatable, I prefer college but I can understand why people like the NFL more. |
Re: Favorite sport to watch?
Live? soccer easy, watching barcelona-real madrid on nou camp beats everything. and when barca has defeated real you go out and party with the rest of barca for 24 hours=)

[/ QUOTE ] college = white guys jacking up 21 foot 3 pointers all game. watch the gansey/pittnogle WVU team. just awful basketball. the reason that college players look like they are playing harder is that you have a lot of teams focusing on one or two players, which means there's tons of players just keying on that one JJ redick, adam morrison etc. in the NBA, the big men are so talented, you can't leave brad miller, chris bosh, KG etc. open because they will punish you by knocking down shots, which is why a lot of people think that the NBA is just one-one-one. they are right, but it's not a matter of effort. also...lebron james never went to college and unscientifically i'd say he's the most exciting player to watch in the country (excluding "world" because of Yao and trillions of Chinese). |

[/ QUOTE ] Maybe you misunderstood my post, I didn't ever say that the NBA players were less talented or didn't try hard. I explained that college is more fun to watch because...it's more fun to watch. That's great that they're better athletes and that they're punish you if you leave them alone, but I can't stand watching the games so I don't care. And I do think, regardless of what anyone says since everyone is just guessing, that college players do care more/try harder on average. College players just look like it's more important to them when they're diving for loose balls or boxing out for a rebound. To a lesser extent, the same is true in football. I don't care if it's "awful basketball," which I do not think it is, because I'm not looking for a basketball teaching guide. |
Re: Favorite sport to watch?
evan,
the offer still stands to watch me play basketball with my friends. i promise we will play harder than anyone ever, even though we are not very good. |

In person: college football. Nothing beats the atmosphere. [/ QUOTE ] I think NFL games have better atmosphere outside of student sections. Some schools have absolutely ridiculous student sections that are unrivaled by any crowd at any sport. Also, the atmosphere at a big time soccer game might be better than both, but unlike NFL/CollFB, I don't know first hand. |
