few of my friends post here, hey nickolas, vlad, jake,

I hit the badbeat jackpot last night I had a 4 kings against a royal flush. The table got mad at me by how much i tipped. How much should i of tipped.

I got 50% of the jackpot which was 136k. I tipped the dealer $100.00

My friend tells me i should of tipped $1000.00 and he doesn't know how i cans how my face around there anymore.

Opinons please.

Now that my bankroll is high enough i believe i can try playing poker professionally for at least a year. What limit should i start playing? or any helpful things i should read would be appreciated.

also i'm trying to bankroll a few people on some online low limits. What should i ask for my ROI? if he loses i take the loss.

yea i was there last night, people were talking about you until i left (this morning). how could you be such a tightwad. Dude, you should have tipped $1,000.00. That dealer is a good friend of mine and <DEALERS NAME> is really upset with you. <DEALERS NAME> doesnt make a lot of money. Anyway, have a good freaking day.

When I go out to eat, I usually tip 20% of the bill. Dealers are exceptionally gifted and talented individuals who work much harder than waiters, so I will usually tip them 33% instead of the 20% that I give to waiters.

If I win a hand and the rake is $3, I will tip 33%, or $1. In your case, you were not charged any rake on this hand, so I don't understand why you are tipping at all. Your tip says that the dealer was 100X more deserving on that hand than on others and other people think that the dealer was 1,000X more deserving. This makes no sense to me.

I reduce all tips if the service is bad and refuse to tip anyone who begs or tries to make me feel guilty about tipping. This is standard across all service providers including taxi drivers, valets, waiters, dealers, etc.

Why? Why oh why oh why??? Why? Can someone come up with some cogent reason why he should give someone else $1000 just because he's had some good fortune. Would you give the guy who beckons a cab for you $1000? No. Would you give a cocktail waitress $1000? No. So why does the dealer deserve it? There's a very simple way out of all this anyway .... the casino should simply set aside 1% of any bad beat jackpot for the dealer at the table and advertise it as such. Problem solved.

I am guessing you are pretty young (im 23 so i cant say much). I am going to give some advice that may turn out to be -EV for your regular competition.

Just becuase you hit a big jackpot doesnt mean you can "go pro" or that you are good enough, if you didnt have a big enough bankroll before, what makes you good enough now?

Dont bankroll people online at low limits, the type of people that need bankrolled arent worth bankrolling, the ones that are, dont need bankrolled becuase they have the cash, i have ran accross one +EV bankrolling situation in the last 4 years and that was only becuase a person took a big bankroll hit to pay bills that were not poker related and a suprise - he had a long winning history and just needed bankrolled to get back on his feet
