Time to get this one rolling.

Re: ***Official Week 1 FF Thread***

Don't have any real tough decisions but would appreciate some insight...

For my #2 RB, should I start Deuce McAllister @ CLE who will likely be splitting carries with Reggie Bush or Travis Henry vs NYJ who was recently named starter but still may split carries with Chris Brown and/or LenDale White?

Also, for my #2 WR, should I start Donald Driver vs a tough CHI D or Keenan McCardell @ OAK? (I have LT as my #1 RB FWIW)

Standard scoring: 6 pts ru/rec TD, 1 pt per 10 yds ru/rec, -2 pts fumble lost

I have Chris Chambers and Ronnie Brown on two teams
Do I start them and thus jinx myself out of $1000 dollars?

1 point for every 10 yards rushing/receiving.
6 points per TD.

Same question I've been asking myself. I figure at least if I lost $1000....I win my fantasy game :-/

F* my fantasy team...go Steelers!

(I am starting all my dolphins though)

Barlow needs to prove himself before you throw him in the lineup. Rhodes, easily. That isn't even tough.

I'm playing my mother this week. I NEED to win or I will most likely cry for 3 straight weeks.

Too High,
Deuce and Driver. Fisher said today Brown is the starter. Driver is too good and thrown to too much to not start.

Charlie and Solo,
Of course you start them both. But Solo, you need to try and break up having all 3. I don't mind having a RB and WR but having all 3 will kill you some weeks unless they play like the old Rams.

MCS,
Barlow sucks.

Assani,
Galloway, Coles and Muhammed unless DJax is a definite start. I'd replace Moose with him.

Kyro,
Caddy.

Do you have a source regarding Chris Brown being named the starter? Here's the latest news I got on the Tennessee RB situation as of 8/29:

[ QUOTE ]
News: According to a source close to the Titans, CBS SportsLine.com has learned that Travis Henry is expected to be the Tennessee's starting running back when they play vs. the Jets in Week 1 of the regular season. "Chris Brown is listed as the No. 1 running back in name only," the source said, citing Henry's dedication to the offseason workouts and overall ability as the main reasons why he'll start over Brown and rookie LenDale White. Henry started the Titans' third preseason game, a home loss to the Falcons. On the preseason, Henry has rushed for 53 yards on 21 carries (a 2.5 yards per carry average) with a touchdown along with three catches for 20 yards; Brown has 69 rush yards on 16 carries (4.3 average) with three passes caught for 24 yards.

Analysis: Brown has done nothing to endear himself to the Titans' coaching staff this preseason, requesting a trade at the onset of training camp, so we feel like that plays a role in this move, too. The problem facing him is that Brown will still warrant carries, and rookie LenDale White will also be in the RB mix, potentially at the goal line. Henry should now be looked at as a nice No. 3 Fantasy RB worth a choice between Rounds 6 and 8. He was once considered a top-10 Fantasy stat machine, so he's familiar with what it takes to be a stud.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree about starting Driver, just a bit worried about his match-up.

Re: ***Official Week 1 FF Thread***

QB-Only have 1 So EZ Pick-Peyton
RB1-Cadillac (not against great team but I will start) vs BAL
RB2-a. Gore vs Arizona
b. Jones (Chi) vs GB
c. Bell (T. Den) vs STL
d. Lundy (Hou) vs Phi
I have D. Davis (Hou) but he's hurt
WR1-Roy W (Det) vs Sea
WR2-Walker (Den) vs STL
WR3-a. Bennett (Ten) vs NYJ
b. Stallworth (Phi) vs Hou
c. Burleson (Sea) vs Det
TE-Gates
K-Feely
DEF-Chicago

Personally I think I'm going with Gore at RB2 or Thomas Jones against GB. With WR I'm leaning towards Stallworth, since Houston is pretty horrible against the Pass.

[/ QUOTE ]btw, would love to hear your reasoning for why you picked the 3 you did also. Right now I'm totally unsure. DJack(if healthy of course) seems to be my only must start WR every week.

Re: ***Official Week 1 FF Thread***

I guess it would help if I gave my thoughts...

Joey Galloway vs Baltimore
Don't like this matcup for him, as he'll probably draw McAllister and double teams. But he was a monster last year.

Laveranues Coles at Tenn
Great matchup for him. Could be a big surprise WR this year, as his team could rely heavily on him.

Darrell Jackson at Det
IF healthy, no brainer.

Michael Clayton vs Baltimore
Very unlikely to start for me in week 1.

Keyshawn Johnson vs Atl
Smith should draw Deangelo Hall, which means that they might have to rely on KJ more. Plus he is a much better FF WR in ppr leagues.

Mushin Muhammad at GB
great matchup. Hope that GB can score some on Chi's D so that they don't just run the clock out the whole game.

So DJack is in. Then I think I'm going to sit the 2 TB WRs(especially since I'm a Ravens fan). But picking 2 out of the other 3 is tough for me. Any thoughts are appriciated.

BWebb 08-31-2006 06:19 PM

Re: ***Official Week 1 FF Thread***

Assani,

My reasoning:

Coles has a great match-up and is the clear #1 WR, easy pick.

Galloway is also #1 and is good enough to get his against a good defense.

Moose was chosen only because he is the only WR on the team and should get some red zone opportunities.

If you don't want to start a TB WR, I'd rank them DJax, Coles, Moose, Keyshawn. I don't like Johnson until Delhomme shows he can get more than 1 WR involved in the offense.

capone,
Gore and Jones are both very good starts, but I'd go with Gore. At WR I'd go Burelson with or without DJax. I don't like the idea of Collins starting after just two weeks in camp, so that hurts Bennett. Same thing with Stallworth.

Re: ***Official Week 1 FF Thread***

Here's an easy one:

At RB I have LT2, KJones, TJones, Maroney, and Mike Bell. Obviously LT2 is starting.

Schedules:

KJones (vs SEA)
TJones (@GB)
Bell (@STL)
Maroney (vs BUF)

David Akers or Josh Brown for my team? I realize this is an incredibly uncritical decision, but Akers seems too solid to not be on a team.

Re: ***Official Week 1 FF Thread***

Traded away Kevin Jones to strengthen my WR position. So now I have to decide who to start at #2 RB behind Ronnie Brown. I realize Addai and Williams might not get as much playing time, but Taylor didn't look so hot the last few games. I'll probably just start Taylor this week and if he starts sucking, I'll switch in one of the other guys next week.

I'm not sure if I should be proud or ashamed that I had the first poll in the thread. Also, since I responded to everyone else's polls, you have to respond to mine.

Starting Driver and Roy Williams, need to pick my WR3.

20 yards = 1 point
1 TD = 6 points

Re: ***Official Week 1 FF Thread***

Ok, one more poll. #1 WR is Steve Smith. But what 2 guys should I start behind him? I just picked up Gabriel who was just traded to the Pats. With Branch such an uncertainty, there is a good chance, Gabriel will get a lot of shots.

Re: ***Official Week 1 FF Thread***

Probably the first of many times I ask this:

Pick 3 of these 4 WR's:
Ward vs. Miami
Driver vs. Chi
Horn @Cleve
Evans @NE

Ward & Horn are on the injury report but I don't know how serious they are.

Also, would anybody consider sitting McGahee (@NE) or Jordan (SD) for Thomas Jones @ GB?

Spellmen 09-04-2006 03:49 PM

Re: ***Official Week 1 FF Thread***

WR1: Moss vs SD
WR2: TO at Jacksonville? or should i go with
a) Lee Evans at NE
b)D Jackson at Det

I'm not completely sure what to think of the hamstring problem right now, though Jackson is questionable as well

RB1) Jordan at SD
RB2) Gore at Arizona
I think I am set on these guys, but Jordan has a tough matchup, I also have J. Jones at Jac, K. Jones at Seattle, Mike Bell at StL, and Benson at GB. Benson won't start for a few weeks yet, but does anyone know the Denver situation yet? I went with Peyton in the first round really late, so my RB situation was a little weak so I stocked up on guys in the middle rounds.

I am also starting V. Davis at TE, Kaeding at K, and Tenn. for D vs the Jets. Right now Tenn is my only D, can I get by with just trying to pick up a serviceable D each week that is playing a weak team like the Jets or 49ers?

MacGuyV 09-04-2006 03:56 PM

Re: ***Official Week 1 FF Thread***

TO is a no-brainer IMO especially w/ DJax questionable; the Jags are solid and should win that game but they've never had a good pass-rush.

Your RB's I have no idea because I don't know the Denver situation very well (not sure anyone does?). I'd stay away from J. Jones vs. the Jags big DT's; K. Jones I think could actually have a good game vs. Seattle but that's my gambling play of the week Detroit +6.

Re: ***Official Week 1 FF Thread***

A few decisions I am unsure about so far for this week, standard Yahoo scoring, QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/WR/TE/K/DEF

TE:
K. Winslow vs. NO
V. Davis vs. Ari

2nd RB:
C. Brown vs. NYJ
M. Bell vs. StL
K. Barlow vs. Ten
K. Jones vs. Sea

3rd WR:
M. Jones vs. Dal
L. Coles vs. Ten

Anyone have any opinions on any of these three spots?

MacGuyV 09-05-2006 07:29 PM

Re: ***Official Week 1 FF Thread***

I'd go with K. Jones and Coles. TE is a crapshoot.

Re: ***Official Week 1 FF Thread***

lol @ Kevin Jones vs. Sea. You've got one of the most disappointing fantasy players last year and you're playing him against a great run defense that'll be able early? No way, pick Mike Bell.
