I'd probably do it for twelve grand. I think it could actually be an interesting experience, there would definitely have to be something in it for me though.

I'd probably end up eating a 12k cheeseburger on week 51 though.

Vegan means no cheese? I don't know if I can do that, and I already don't eat meat. It'd be a lot of money.

Re: How much would someone have to pay you to eat vegan for a year?

whatever it is, the price for being a vegan would be at least 10x higher than that for being a vegetarian

Re: How much would someone have to pay you to eat vegan for a year?

It would be tough as hell.

$10k vegetarian, $40k vegan.

Basically I feel like I could never go out to dinner with anyone because my will power sucks.

Re: How much would someone have to pay you to eat vegan for a year?

Meh, I would take a job being a vegan in exchange for a solid pay hike. I could improve my health in the process and I wouldn't have to go to work. 50k sounds about right. Probably do vegetarian for 10k.

Re: How much would someone have to pay you to eat vegan for a year?

Nutrient wise it being equal or better than current diet then:

1) Restaurant vegan options don't seem aplenty and could be affect healthiness of such a diet. Learning to cook a proper vegan diet would be quite time consuming, tons of additional grocery shopping, and tons of additional time in dinner preparations. So it would have to at least $50,000, enough to warrant the time spent.

2) Hypothetically if I had a cook to do all the shopping, prep work (ie. possibly a spouse or gf or heck hypothetical right a personal chef) then this number would drop to 10,000.

Re: How much would someone have to pay you to eat vegan for a year?

The number depends a lot on if yeast are considered animals, a lack of beer would be what would jack the number way up.

Veganism is a philosophy and lifestyle that avoids using animals and animal products for food, clothing and other purposes. In practice, a vegan (an adherent to veganism) commits to the abstention from consumption or use of all animal products, including meat, fish, poultry, honey, eggs and dairy products, as well as articles made of fur, wool, bone, leather, feathers, pearls, mother of pearl, coral, and other materials of animal origin. Many vegans also avoid products that have been tested on animals.

I have a fairly poor diet now. It would take a major adjustment to eat vegan, I would have to learn a lot of new stuff and in the process I would definitely make sure I was getting all my good stuff.

I think people are thinking vegan is vegetarian. You also need to understand that if you have stuff like leather shoes you can't wear em, reupolster(sp?) your car if it has leather, tons of weird [censored] you'd have to stop doing in order to being vegan.

Re: How much would someone have to pay you to eat vegan for a year?

Wow $50k - that is an insanely high number imo. I think turning down $40K would be crazy for you.

Re: How much would someone have to pay you to eat vegan for a year?

a couple years ago my friend told me he was going to become a vegan. i called him out on this and said bs and prop bet him $1k that i could last longer than he could. i lasted 6 days. i felt fine at first but at day 6 i felt really weak for some reason and it was a really miserable experience. my friend is still a vegan to this day. more power to him i guess.

so i am guessing it would take a pretty substantial amount to get me to be a vegan, maybe $60+k.

i'm not sure what my number is, but i think i'd turn down 100k without batting an eye. good question, i'll have to think about it.

the first thing i would do is budget for a world-class vegan chef and all of the food for an entire year. i don't know how much that would be.

I'm not sure this would be that much different than how I'm eating right now. No chicken, no hamburger, no steak....of which I only eat chicken on a weekly basis...

And I could probably do without milk and cheese...I already barely eat cheese.

That said..I'm greedy and don't like the strictness of it..so I'd go 10K or so.

a balanced vegan diet is probably less healthy than a balanced omnivore diet, but the reason vegans 'eat healthier' is that the average vegan is much more conscious of what they eat than the average non-vegan

FWIW, though I could force myself to do it for free (I was vegan for 9 months), I'd probably do it voluntarily for $3,000

Some of the numbers in this thread are really way to high. How wouldn't you do this for 100k? You could take an entire year off and go around the world with a good income, the only catch is you have to be a vegan. Sounds like a sweet gig to me.

fwiw I'd do it for 10k

I am 23, I have been vegan for 7 years, (since I was 16).
No one pays me.

On the other hand, I would eat an average american diet (fast food included) for probably about 300k for a year.

Re: How much would someone have to pay you to eat vegan for a year?

I just found this thread, and I'm amazed at the low numbers the thread started out with. WTF? Were all the vegs posting first? It would have to be several years' pay, because that year would be HELL.

At least $250k.
