\"Regulars\" at the Borgata....

I just got back from a 24 hour trip to the Borgata. Played 5/10 for about 14 hours on Saturday.

I encountered the biggest jerk I've ever seen at the poker table.

To all the regulars who play there: who the hell is "Rocco?" I don't want this thread locked, but suffice it to say, I would happily call this guy every name in the book (and did when we got into last night).

Re: \"Regulars\" at the Borgata....

You talking about the 60 year old-ish Italian Rocco with the slicked back hair. Plays 10-25 NL. Probably him.

Rocco doesnt play 10/25 he plays 5/10

Re: \"Regulars\" at the Borgata....

Is that right? Do you hold his hand and massage his [edited]everytime he plays. Didn't think so. Rocco has played 10-25. I've played it with him.

Rocco played BOTH 10/25 and 5/10 yesterday. He moved to my table from a 10/25 that effectively went on dinner break.

So, yes, it's that guy.

What's his deal? Why is he such a prick?

I was at the same table. Rocco was upset that the 800-1600 limit hold-em players were getting special treatment which he didn't get. What seat were you in?

Is that a typo, an exaggeration for humor, or is the Borg now spreading a game that's ten times bigger than the biggest regular HE game I was aware of?

Nope, it's completely accurate. There was a 2k-4k going the last time I was there.

You were at the 5/10 table or the 10/25 table? I was playing 5/10. I was the guy with glasses in the 5 seat (i think it was 5). Were you at that table? What time were you playing?

Also, Rocco played at a couple of 5/10 tables. Pretty sure he was an a** at all of them.

Re: \"Regulars\" at the Borgata....

I have played with this guy twice and he didn't seem horrible. He was blabbing about the 2-4 when I was there with him last weekend though, which was kinda dumb. The regulars at the Borgata are kinda a funny group though (in the 5/10nl at least) because they are getting treated a lot better at the Borgata than they would be at a lot of other rooms, yet they perpetually complain about something.

He moved to my table and was directly to my left. There were 6 limpers or so. I complete in the sb. He makes it 110. Everyone folds to the button. He thinks for a minute, then folds. I fold.

The guy to my right says something like "I should've come over the top, I know he had nothing." I tell him that he should've if he had a hand, and we discuss it for a minute.

Rocco overhears my conversation, and, without anything more, says, in the most sarcastic, a**-like voice, says "when your book comes out, can I get an autograph?"

I had been warned by a few people about him, so I decided to be a d.ck back to him. I said "I don't remember saying anything to you. Pretty sure I was just talking to the guy on my right."

Rocco tells me I should stop being a [censored] wiseguy. I tell him he's the [censored] wiseguy, he started with me, blah blah blah.

He tells me "I don't know who I'm dealing with." I tell him I know exactly who I'm dealing with, and that's the whole point.

Eventually, it gets dropped. But at every table he moved to, he started something. I could hear him from a few tables over no matter where he sat. Total c.cksucker who deserves to get punched. I hope someone does it.

I guarantee the rest of the table saw two people with room for improvement, not one. Rocco's behavior should be no higher than second place in your mind.

Re: \"Regulars\" at the Borgata....

Me too... especially in a game like this. Do we really need to be discussing re-squeezing at the table? Anyway, I have heard him and others make the exact same joke when I played with them a few weeks ago and no verbal bickering followed. Also, my impression of Rocco was that he was a bit nittish/TAG - so he probably had a good hand here a lot of the time...

Sounds like the OP needs at attitude adjustment but doesn't know it. The villain is perceived to be a known idiot, now that we all know that its really a non-topic. But the OP sounds like he is looking for an excuse to continue to cause trouble after a small argument at the table.

Advice for the OP - learn to control your ego. This isn't a peen size contest, don't let it become one and you will be much happier.

Dude - I know you think you know it all, but he got in my face when I was talking to someone else. Maybe you let people give you attitude when they talk to you for the first time and then ignore them. That's you. His comment was unprovoked. I said something back. I doubt that merits an attitude adjustment as you so eloquently put it.

This is general etiquette at the table. If you took a formal poll, the majority would find that telling someone they should have taken a shot vs. a player and discussing it afterwards is inappropriate.

Re: \"Regulars\" at the Borgata....

You were talking about someone right in front of them. In almost any social circumstance that would be considered inappropriate and even rude. And by judging from your reaction to any dissenting view on this thread, I would imagine that your conversation started the conflict and your reaction probably escalated it. If I were a betting man (and I just happen to be one) I would say your attitude is -EV. And mixed with this Rocco fella's, who is prolly about the same ,we get it all in!!

ha ha... thats Ken... (I believe). Puts a smile on my face just thinking about him. He usually plays 2/5 and says he went to LA (Bicycle Club) to study this style of poker. I like playing at the same table as him... as it stirs up a lot of action.... "ALL IN!"

Re: \"Regulars\" at the Borgata....

I rarely play at the Borgata, and when I do, it's not $5/$10 or $10/$25... but I've heard my fair share of Rocco stories. He's been around. He knows the game and I'm sure he's got a good gauge for what is and is not appropriate banter at the poker table. If he said something along the lines "Hey Kid, shush," I doubt it was unwarranted.

As far acting like he's a higher-up, or someone that you should know who you're talking... well, he kinda is. When in Rome...

Rocco's apparently pretty well known to A.C. dealers, when I went through dealer school all the Caesars guys knew him.
