Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
Quick story: Me and my fiance live in apartment where it's just her on the lease. We have a 3 year old daughter. She's just on the lease (long story I can't get into right now) She just graduated college, but hasn't found a job yet (has interviews coming up).
Last night (on my night off, I work 12 hr sched, i have Wed and Thurs night off this week), a call came on my cell phone at around 10:00. I was of course up and my fiance was just getting ready for bed. The cell phone rang, I didn't recognize the number so I just handed it to my fiance, (It's usually one of her chick friends). She opened it and said "Hello?" I am standing next to her and hear some dude on the other end, "Hello?" My fiance says "hello." The dude says hello, my fiance says a weird hello again as if nobody is there.. Then she starts shutting the phone as if nobody was on it (but I heard the dude talkung), but before she shuts the flip phone I hear "Amanda?" (her name) I will continue this story later. What's your play? (Note this is a completly true story that took place last night). |

Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
Do you have a joint bank account?
|
Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
Sounds like it's most likely someone she didn't expect to hear from, possibly a creep of some sort who got your number. I would treat it about the same as a creepy call on her own number.

Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
Do you have a sturdy belt?
Tasteless kidding aside, I don't really see that there's anything good to do here other than say "What was up with that?" and don't let her wriggle out of giving you at least some kind of explanation as to how she knows this guy and why she's trying to ignore him right now. It looks pretty bad. |

Do you have a joint bank account? [/ QUOTE ] No, we both have our own bank accounts, the vast majority (95%) of the money is in my account. |

Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
Doesn't sound good.
You need to go into more detail on the cell situation though. Do you share a cell? Why? Why do her girlfriend call her on it? If she's cheating, why would she give some guy your number? |
Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
Do you two share a cell phone?
|
Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
you said "THE CELL PHONE" does that mean you two share one cell phone?
|
Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
Yes, we share the cell phone. We both use it, but in reality it's mine because I pay for it..
The number called on the cell was another cell phone number that I didnt recognize. I'll add the next 5 seconds to the story.. "WHO THE [censored] IS THAT?" <Fiance goes into bedroom, locks the door> Next play? (Mind you, I just laid my daughter to bed about 15 minutes before this). |

Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
Shout in to her that you're calling the guy back. Grab the phone and call him, and find out what's what. She'll probably come running out and confess and try to take the phone from you if she's guilty.

Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
this looks and sounds (literally) very bad. i think you need to ask your fiance what was up. don't approach her and accuse her of something sketchy, but try to find out what happened. clearly, you want to trust her and you want her to feel as if you trust her. but what just happened sounds horrible and it demands further investigation. he definetly knew her, and she certainly wanted to pretend that she didn't know him--playing it off as a wrong number. you have to ask yourself why she would want you to think this was a wrong number. hopefully, you'll be subtle yet effective.
if your wife is super-sneaky, then this is some kind of test of your trust of her. but i think the chance of this is like 0% |
Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
I don't want to jump to any conclusions, but you might want to consider the possibility that she's cheating on you.
Congrats, you just got a "Get Some [censored] For Free" card. Edit: I just wasted my 1000th post on this. |

However it looks pretty bad, I'd probably leave the house immediately and start drinking. NT |

[/ QUOTE ] i definetly like some of the concepts behind this idea. definetly find that # in her phone and jot it down (hide paper). you may need to call him to find out what is going on. don't call him immediately, approach wife first. no need to ruin any feelings of trust between you and your fiance yet but be ready to call him back if need be |
Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
Uh, yeah, no way this turns out well. Sorry bro.
|
Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
Did she have the cell with her in the room, or did you have it?
|
Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
Story started off like it could end up happily. The more and more details you give, the more and more I think you are no longer engaged.
|
Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
I call the guy back and ask who he is. You have the right to know, so if she doesn't want to fully disclose what's going on...

She took the phone with her into the bedroom, and deleted the number from the received list. [/ QUOTE ] Big problem. Tell her that either she is planning some awesome suprise for you that she needs to bring to light right now, or you're assuming she's cheating and you are leaving her. It still could be something innocent, but make it clear that if that's the case the *must* ruin your surprise party now to prevent you from deeming her a cheat and it ruining your trust and your relationship. |
Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
Added Bonus Guys: She has a Myspace.Com page, And this has the potential of ending very ugly for her.

Sorry man, guess it's better to find out now rather than married. Sorry for your child too. Had she ever before displayed a propensity to do stupid things like give guys who are sleeping with her her fiance's cell phone number? That takes a rare breed of dumb. But with her reaction, I can't envision any other scenario. |

Call your phone company, get the number.

Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
And just in case you are still feeling vindictive after she pawns the engagement ring - you can get an incoming call log from your service provider. Based on her response (and yours), I think there are/were some serious trust issues at play here.
I think this will turn into a revenge thread before long. |
Re: Some dude called my cell phone looking for my fiance
Missed the post that said she deleted the number. Okay, at this point, she would make me something something... go crazy? Don't mind if I do!
