I Got
Gates-WR
Horn-WR
Randal El-WR

I gave
VDavis-TE
Branch-WR
KCurtis-WR

1 point per 10 yrds...6 points for TD+2 for 25+, plus 4 for 50+
100yrds=5 points

My other WR's are Jennings-GB, CChambers-Mia, CJohnson-Cinn, CWilson-Pitt
We start 3 WR and a Flex which can be a WR/TE etc

Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Thread*

Agree or Disagree

Gates far superior to VDavis
Branch and Horn are a wash
Curtis superior to Randel EL

so basically I gave up a better #3 WR(I have Chmabers and ChadJ who are auto starts) to get the best TE.

Who knows?

VDavis is such an unknown. I strongly disagree that Branch and Horn are a wash. However, as of now, with Branch's status still unknown its fine. But if he starts the season. . .

This is what we refer to in my baseball league as a "rape job". Getting Gates and two nags for that package would be worthwhile. Getting Horn is just a bonus.

You got the best of the trade by about 30 points over the period of the season, according to my formula.

Horn #1 on a team that will be down by 15 points every game.
He had a crap year last year but there were a lot of factors for that...and having Brooks as your QB never helps.

Branch while he has the potential for a breakout year...is currently a holdout and is on a team where they seem to throw to everyone and their mother every week.

I see Horn being more consistent game in game out then Branch who I see having a great game then vanishing then a great game ...etc etc
ESPN
21. Joe Horn
22. Lee Evans
23. Rod Smith
24. Nate Burleson
25. Eddie Kennison
26. Derrick Mason
27. Terry Glenn
28. Deion Branch

footballguys projections
29 Deion Branch NE/6 67rec 905yrd 13.5av 5tds 120.9pts
31-Joe Horn NO/7 66rec 881yrds 13.3av 5tds 118.1pts

so a push.

Though Branch is more likely for a huge breakout...but being on the Pats hurts that.

Haha. Pretty much.

The worst part of my week this week was moving Cedric Houston from a 120 point RB to a 60 point RB. :-(

I wonder how much the rankings are effected by his holdout?

Its funny cause I have the exact opposite opinion of Horn.

Not exactly a trade, but didn;t want to clutter up the board with a new thread.

Currently I have Dominic Rhodes.
Someone just dropped Joe Addai.

Should I pick him up to ensure that I have the Indy started.

To pick him up I'd have to drop Mike Bell.

drop someone else...back up kicker/def/te etc

Matt Jones and Drew Bledsoe are the only other players on my bench.

Should I drop Rhodes to grab Addai? Who do you think has the better shot at being the man in Indy?

Who gets the better of this deal?

Start 2RB/2WR. STandard Yahoo Scoring.

Player A:

Randy Moss
Terrell Owens
Rod Smith

Reggie Bush
Dom Davis
Jamal Lewis

Player B:

Torry Holt
Plax Burress
Joe Horn

LT
Cadillac Williams
Willis McGahee.

Player A has Moss and Owens on bye Week 3.
Player B has Holt and Horn on bye Week 7.

Proposed Trade:

Moss OR Owens

for

Horn

If this is unbalanced, what would you suggest to make it balanced?

I get NY Giants defense and give up Carolina's defense, straight up.

IMO it's a wash. Benefit to me is I'm a big Giants fan and I wanted their defense pretty bad. The current owner tried to get me to give up too much for the Giants, but now he's offering this trade. Downside I can see is the Giants have a harder schedule than the Panthers. Thoughts?

Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa

I don't think the Panthers are that much better then the Giants but they are better defensively. Offensively I also think they have improved. On most mocks they have the Panthers going around 78 (espn) and the Giants around 114 (espn) but the Giants 1st team has looked good. I wouldn't say it's a wash but I think he got a slight advantage fantasy wise.

ScottieK 08-28-2006 11:16 AM

Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa

Yeah, it's hard to evaluate the Giants D since there's a bunch of new players....good players, but they haven't been battle-tested as a group yet. It's a free league, so money's not on the line....but I like to play to win anyways. If it's just a slight advantage, I'm probably willing to do it anways just so I can have the Giants D on my team.

I didn't get any Giants in the draft besides Sinorice Moss, a total flyer (and it was kind of a joke). I also picked up Brandon Jacobs later as a backup...no one else was really available, and he's a touchdown thief...so he'll work for a week if I need him. Just wanted a reality check on this trade....thanks!

Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Thread*

Upon hearing that Chris Brown is the official starter in Tennesee (I have Travis Henry) (thanks for the info BWebb!), I'd like to secure a more reliable #2 RB, and was thinking of making a trade for Reuben Droughns. Sure, he's not a very glamorous trade target, but he seems pretty solid and I feel like I could make a good deal with the team that owns him.

Here's my team:
QB: Carson Palmer (CIN)
QB: Drew Brees (NO)
QB: Philip Rivers (SD)
RB: LaDainian Tomlinson (SD)
RB: Deuce McAllister (NO)
RB: Cedric Benson (CHI)
RB: Travis Henry (TEN)
WR: Marvin Harrison (IND)
WR: Donald Driver (GB)
WR: Keenan McCardell (SD)
WR: Eric Moulds (HOU)
TE: Jason Witten (DAL)
K: John Kasay (CAR)
DST: Seahawks

Here's his team:
QB: Michael Vick (ATL)
QB: Byron Leftwich (JAC)
RB: Reuben Droughns (CLE)
RB: Rudi Johnson (CIN)
RB: Marion Barber (DAL)
RB: Clinton Portis (WAS)
WR: Darrell Jackson (SEA)
WR: Derrick Mason (BAL)
WR: Michael Clayton (TB)
WR: Isaac Bruce (STL)
WR: Anquan Boldin (ARI)
WR: Dallas Clark (IND)
WR: Jay Feely (NYG)
DST: Redskins

Now obviously, I think I should try to help out his QB situation while making this deal. I just offered him Travis Henry & Drew Brees for Reuben Droughns and Michael Clayton, but that was just an introductory offer to see if he has any interest at all, so I'm not really holding my breath for this offer to get accepted.

Can anyone come up with a FAIR offer (all trades must be voted on by owners) that would help out both teams? This is for a standard Sportsline 12-team league.

Thanks

Re: *Official Fantasy Football \"What Do You Think of This Trade\" Threa

Someone in our league is looking to shop Portis, not sure why. But he is looking for another RB and something else. I am kind of thin on second RBs, here is my roster

QB: Matt Hassleback
QB: Kurt Warner
QB: Trent Green
RB: Tiki Barber
RB: Julius Jones
RB: Chester Taylor
RB: Thomas Jones
RB: Ahman Green
WR: Torry Holt
WR: Steve Smith
WR: Eddie Kennison
WR: Santana Moss
TE: Chris Cooley
TE: Kellen Winslow
DEF: Tampa Bay

No kicker yet because they are easy to pick up, and I wanted to secure a bunch of RBs so I'd have more time to make a decision. He said he is interested in probably only Taylor, and I would probably throw in Kennison if I can swing that deal. How high should I be willing to go to make this trade happen? I kind of wanted to hang on to Ahman Green because I think he will be a big steal from the 13th round. I only got Trent Green as trade bait in the last round, and have a couple offers on him, but he may go in this deal as well

I have Carson Palmer, LT, and Kevin Jones as my 3 starters, with Culpepper as backup. He wants to give me Edgerrin James and David Givens for Palmer.

1pt/50 yds passing
1pt/20 yds rushing
6pts/passing/rushing TD

Thoughts?

rather than take david givens and gain what is likely to be a small measure of depth at WR (you will need to drop someone, right?), i think it would be better to try to give him Palmer and a decent WR (say your second or third starter) in return for Edge and a better WR.

Well here are my WRs: TO, Donte Stallworth, Darrell Jackson, Braylon Edwards, and Marty Booker. Play 3 each week.

He has Chad Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Nate Burleson, Matt Jones, and David Givens.

I think I will drop Booker and take his deal. If I offer him a receiver, which one do I give up, and which one do I get? I am considering offering TO for Johnson, but Im not sure he will go for that. Stallworth will hopefully have a good year in Philly, and Edwards in Cleveland. Jackson is a good one to have IMO as long as hes healthy. If he wont part with Johnson, his #2 pick in the draft, I think Wayne is about on the same level as Jackson and Stallworth will hopefully be. Then I would still have Edwards and Givens in case they turn out to have great seasons this year, which Im hoping Edwards does.

I guess what Im trying to say is that I wont get a better receiver in return for offering him one. Stallworth and Jackson are projected to have as good as seasons as Wayne. Stallworth had a better year last year than Wayne. Jackson had a decent year last year until he was hurt, so if he can stay healthy he could be better than Wayne too.

Thanks for your reply.

Its looking like thats going to be a good trade, since Branch is likely out until week 10. If Branch plays, then Im not a big fan of the trade. I think Jones is going to have a good season this year, but without Branch playing, its a good trade for you.

As far as your other trade, I like Cooley over Watson, and having Duckett as insurance for Portis is a good idea. Deuce may or may not have good numbers this year, depending on how much Bush plays.

vetman,

the thing is im so deep at RB and only play 2 each week, and deuece is certainly no better than kevin jones, warrick dunn or fred taylor (unless he seriously owns this year), so i figure may as well upg somewhere else.

Is it impossible to trade a kicker for a position player?

10-team good Yahoo private league, and one of the guys who I've done many fair trades with didn't draft a kicker, while 4 others teams took two (including me, had to autodraft after rd. 11, stupid computer). He has 3 handcuffs and a split-carrier on his bench (Turner, Toefield, Maroney, Addai). Is it an insult to offer him someone like John Kasay for Toefield?

I may be in the minority but I don't like Cooley over Watson. And I think you can get by the first week just playing Jones & Droughns at RB; especially given Duckett's running style and the Vikings monsterous defensive tackles.
Jones/Branch for Dunn/Clayton sounds good though.
