Re: what is with this call from twin caracas?

he knows lyric knows he 3bets light and is capable of 4betting light to try and counter, so he knows his cards have to be live often. so the call isnt really that far from breakeven, and great for metagame since he can get lyric to go easier on the preflop 4bets in future by showing him he doesnt like being pushed around and is willing to gamble.

So he calls with 98o and thats supposed to make OP tighten up with the 4-bets?

obiedman 08-16-2006 01:32 PM

Re: what is with this call from twin caracas?

it shows that he's willing to gamble. OP might not be comfortable doing that in big pots, so it could slow down his 4bets in that manner.

Bakes 08-16-2006 01:37 PM

Re: what is with this call from twin caracas?

Lyric is properly rolled for these games so he I am sure he is comfortable playing big pots against loose callers, and its not like twin called the AI with a small pair or AJo, it was 98o.

This is actually a fair point.

When guys start calling huge bets pre flop allin with suited connecters, I usually will be forced to tighten up my reraising range. The last thing I want to do is put a hand like AQ allin against 54s.

Winning that 20% of your stacks must be brutal, you definitely don't want to go around doing that.

Twin plays 200/400NL I am sure he sometimes gets very bored at 5/10 and tilts.

Thats what it looked like - but as others have mentioned I think there's probably other reasons for the play: table image, boredom etc. There's no doubt that Lyric like reraising preflop.

Me neither... the last time he did it vs me, he had A5o (and forced me to lay down 8To pre-flop )

Re: what is with this call from twin caracas?

whats worse? calling off all of your stack with 89 or puting all of your stack in relatively in the dark with A7off?

twin knows what he has, and thinks (correctly) that he isnt in that tough of shape.
