Like or hate Eli Elezra ?
 

Just from reading the few posts I see about him it seems he annoys alot of people or they just dislike him for some reason. IMO I think he seems like a really nice guy and would be a pleasure to have at your table. What's your opinion on him and why ? I've enjoyed watching him play on High Stakes Poker his style is really exciting to watch. Not quite sure why some people are negative towards him ... on that last HSP episode that Anon guy was being an idiot and deserved to be punched.

Seriously though, who hates Eli Elezra? He seems like one of the nicest pros around. He is also a big family man. I can't undrstand why people would hate him.

Kinda moody at times, but overall seems like a good guy. I've also been surprised by how much some people on these forums seem to despise him.

I always feel he's out of place on HSP, HUPC and PSS. What has he ever accomplished to gain admission to the invite only circuit? He has also come across as a douche a few times, like when he cracked Antonio's aces with his jacks and commented that Antonio got what he deserved. But I guess he's an ok guy in general.

I actually find his accent to be quite charming. And if he is the fish, he must be ultra-balla b/c he's been in that game for 10+ years.

Barry Greenstein and Howard Lederer have both implied that Eli has managed to hold his own in the Big Game for several years. If so, that's a lot more impressive than many of the one-hit wonder donkament players that get invited to these things.

ok this is why i dislike him

he takes forever on his decisions
he doesnt seem very friendly to the new guys, only nice to the big game players
gus was drawing dead and ready to muck when eli insisted on seeing his cards
he kept whining about not being able to see anons cards so he foced him to rearrange his stack


i dont know he just runs me the wrong way


edit- i think hes a nice genuine guy but he seems weird at the table

Eli spent a lot of money learning to play the game (since he started in ultra-high stakes) but he is holding his own these days.

There's no doubt he's down "lifetime" in the big game, but he is no longer the fish in the game. Obviously he's not a constant winner, but poker isn't his job either. He plays for fun and these days he's def a player to take seriously in the big game.

I played with him for a few hours in one of the prelim. '05 WSOP events and he was very friendly, funny and likeable. I could see where he might have a temper if he were stuck an enormous amount of money in one of the big cash games but that doesn't seem unusual to me.

Eli and Fossilman and I were at the same table to start Day 3 of the 2004 WSOP Main Event and Eli was on my immediate left. He was very nice to me, very friendly in general and stopped and talked to me a few days later when I was walking through the Bellagio poker room.

IMO he is def a nice guy and should not be hated on.

I thought when he cracked Esfandiari's aces with Jacks all in preflop in a huge pot, and said "now antonio gets what he deserved" (or something to that effect) was kind of a dick move.

BTW, he stakes a lot of players (mostly Israelis) in major tounraments and cash games.

Hate. He seems like a douche. He was kinda douchey in that hand with Hansen, wanting to see Hansen's cards. Also, semi-slow rolled when he flipped his cards over one at a time. He did that in another hand too. Someone should shove that rose up his *ss.

Plus, he's Israeli, and as the previous poster noted, he is responsible for all the wars in this world.

I don't like how he talks to the "young" pros. If you watched the last week's episode of HSP, Fillipi (I don't like him that much) had half of his chips in front of his cards. So Eli started getting pissed and told him to move his chips so he can see his cards. I think he just did that because he thinks he can control people on the table. He's also a big fish.

The only thing I liked about him was right when he won a pot. His hand was pretty disguised, calling a gutshot on the flop. Then Daniel, on the river, after Eli bets, is thinking of all the possible hands and never mentioned KJ. Then he called and Eli showed him KJ for the straight and Daniel said yeah that too. Eli then started telling him that it wasn't on his mind and to stop lying -- which was probably true. Similar thing happened when he had a pair of aces against Phil Laak, and Daniel never said anything about a set which Phil had, and called, then when he found out he had a set he was like "yeah that too". Was never on his mind. I like Daniel but I think he's being a bit stupid on this. Just don't say anything, or list all the possible hands.

He's a fish. I hate watching poker when he's on, because he's boring to watch.

However, he seems like a genuinely nice guy, and I have nothing against him as a person. (Other than the fact that his hair's kinda oily.)
