bellagio poker rate went up?

I just called the poker room, she quoted me 149/weekdays and 219/weekends, and "sometimes higher". anybody else know about this?

Re: bellagio poker rate went up?

Yes it did go up. My brother just booked for us and said it went up and the amounts you quoted sound about right iirc.

Another reason to eff the Bellagio and [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] the Wynn.

I reserved a room for the nights of Friday, March 10 and Sat, March 11. Friday is $219, but Saturday is $279.

The Bellagio rate was raised a few weeks ago (if not before). Also, none of the poker rooms in Vegas guarantee their poker rates. For example, when a big convention is in town, or it's a big holiday weekend, I wouldn't expect any of the major hotels to honor their standard poker rates.

that I always assumed, just didn't think the raised default rate was common knowledge

ended up finding a sick deal at hotels.com for sahara. it's going to almost exclusively be a card-playing trip, so I don't mind the shithole/inconvenience factor. just thought I'd get confirmation and give the board a headsup

Sahara is a bit of a dump but not all that inconvenient. They have a monorail stop and if you have a car they have a valet in back off Paradise that works great for heading down the strip. Just use Paradise for going south and avoid all the strip traffic. Sahara also has a Poker rate and last time I stayed there they didn't track my play at all.

All the casinos are expensive that weekend. NASCAR is in town.

One problem the poker rooms have is the CHARGE BACK they get hit with--- if they give you a rate of $150 but the rooms that day sre going for $350 --- the poker room gets hit with the $150.00 extra --it hurts their bottom line for the room---

If you were willing to pay the $199 for Bellagio and can get a room at the Wynn for the same amount, I would get the room at the Wynn. I have stayed in standard rooms at both places, and much prefer the Wynn.

"lso, none of the poker rooms in Vegas guarantee their poker rates. For example, when a big convention is in town, or it's a big holiday weekend"

--- Is this a fact?? I have booked a room for two nights at the bellagio about a month ago at 199/night, could they really not honor this as long as i make the playing time?

I think once you book it you are fine.

FWIW. I just called and was quoted the old rate of 129/199 over the phone for the beginning of March.

There was a TR on here a couple of weeks ago, a part of which was the Bellagio not honouring the poker rate.

Not sure how common this is though ?

So would I, but I would much rather play at the Bellagio's room.

Also, once you've stayed at the Bellagio under the poker rate once, you're in for life. There's no strict playing requirements for your later visits - you're on the honor system to put a decent amount of hours in there, but they're not tracking you. This is not the case at the Mirage and I got the impression that it's not the case at Wynn, either.

Re: bellagio poker rate went up?

Last time I stayed at the Wynn (my second time), they gave me the poker rate even though I didn't play the required number of hours. They also gave me a full coffee shop comp even though I didn't earn it.

I actually prefer the Wynn to Bellagio, but the mid-limit games at Bellagio are so much better.

Plus, you'll get the enjoy the low cost hooker buffet on your walk back to your room. Last trip, I got propositioned at least twice and each trip from the PR to my room.

In my experience, the Wynn hasn't been holding folks to playing their hours. Frankly- I'm not even sure they've got a system in place to do so.

Well I guess the woman on the phone was just talking tough, then. Maybe I'll have to go get rated at the Wynn next time.

I'm planning on playing 15/30 throughout the trip, and everything I've read on here leads me to believe bellagio 15/30 >>>>>>>> wynn 15/30.

i'll probably drop in to see if that 10/20 mixed game is running though. anyone with recent experience? what is the lineup?

Re: bellagio poker rate went up?

I was referring only to how nice the rooms and hotel are.

As for the games, I usually play 4/8 - 8/16, and both places were pretty comparable. You are probably right about the Bellagio having better mid to high stakes games, but I haven't played so can't comment.

Bellagio's poker room has a much longer wait time, and a horrible brush system, often several hours wait, no monitors showing the lists, and if you are not right there when your name is called they put you back to the bottom of the list (I don't know if they made any improvements to this during the remodel). At the Wynn you can get a pager and have your seat locked up for you when it opens up, which is very nice.

i've played in both rooms and agree with you 100%

this trip is all about the $$$$$$$ though. i'm sure i'll play a session or two at the wynn, but definitely dont want to play 6 hrs/day there

Waits at Bellagio are no longer insanely long. At least not most of the time. The other negative comments still apply. The brush are complete a-holes. I've been tempted to tell them that a few times.
