Best 10-25 NL Player at Borgata?

For those who play at the 10-25 NL game at Borgata, who do you think is the best player there?

Contenders:
Troy
Mike
Wayne
Boris
Rocco
Heath
Others?

Ok this is getting kind of ridiculous.

lol. rocco? wtf?

General rule: If they live and round at the borgata, they are not the best. Is mike the kid with glasses and a hat, young kid, wears polos?

Re: Best 10-25 NL Player at Borgata?

Mike is the guy who wear a worn out Phillies hat. Some people call him Lehigh.

yeah, always buys in with big chips and is pretty quiet. oh yeah, he's a nit too, right?

Re: Best 10-25 NL Player at Borgata?

Based on the fact that he wears a Phillies hat, I am going to guess that he practices bad game selection.

He definitely tends towards the nitty side, but he's probably not as nitty as you think. I've seen him make some big calls based on strong reads as well as the occasional big bluff.

It's gotta be Ed the mail man.

Just kidding.

There's at least one guy that springs to mind as being one of the best there who's not on your list... I think his name is Jason? Relatively young, very aggressive, very good, very successful in that game.

lol, I've never sat 10/25, but Rocco cannot be one of the best players unless that game is super soft.

Who is that guy anyway? I sometimes hear people at the Borg talk about him. Doesn't he have a bracelet or something. (Just wondering, I don't play high stakes).

Re: Best 10-25 NL Player at Borgata?

He's exactly the kind of guy who would look like a Rocco - wrinkled face, slicked back grayish hair. Probably in his early to late 60s. He's a solid player from what I've seen at 5/10, but I've also really only seen him play his own cards - that kind of style just can't make him one of the biggest winners.

I think I know exactly who is he. Back in the old room I ate with him when all the other tables were full, nice guy. He does look like a Rocco, he looks like he could be on the Soprano's.

Re: Best 10-25 NL Player at Borgata?

Would Rocco be the type of guy to try to re-buy in for more than the max at 5-10? And when questioned about it knock over his stacks and make a big mess so no one can count how many chips he has? The guy I saw do this fits the description of Rocco.

Re: Best 10-25 NL Player at Borgata?

The only bracelet Rocco could have is one that he bought to match his two giant pinky rings . . . and he makes mild angle-shooting moves like the one Keyser Soze described frequently . . . the guy is not a "nice guy" . . . more of a scared angling nit who plays 10/25 when he believes that its a fish fest; otherwise this guy sticks to 5/10. FWIW, I think Mike (with the Phili hat from 1980) is the best regular. Mike is TAG, but anything but a nit; I've seen him make +EV big moves such as raising a $6K pot-sized river bet to $20K on a bluff.

Re: Best 10-25 NL Player at Borgata?

yeah, rocco seems like real sonofabitch.

saw him cheating a long time ago when the 5-10 was capped at 1k. he was getting quarters from another player at the table and sliding them into his stack bc there were some fishies who had 2-3 buy ins.

FiftyOuts 08-14-2006 11:01 AM

Re: Best 10-25 NL Player at Borgata?

Yeah, I know Jason Griffin. A very good agresssive player. I would put him up there.

I don't think Mike is that good. I seen him pay off big hand too often.

I vote that Troy is the best player at the 10-25 table. He has amazing reads. He is constantly a winner at the table no matter his opponents.

Rocco is the guy who always try to sneak extra chip at the 5-10 table although he has not done it recently. He's the guy who chats it up with the fishes so that he can take their chips.

in my limited experiences there the borgata regulars are generally uncreative, boring, nits. rocco is a huge nit who misses value bets like its his job. that big guy with the red hair they call red is a solid/standard player from what i can see. i have more respect for a lot of the crazy commerce players because a) they are more fun to play with and b) they have fun and are more creative.

Re: Best 10-25 NL Player at Borgata?

Ha ha, I saw Rocco angle a guy on a collection pot - one guy put up all the money for time, but was supposed to get it back from whoever won the collection pot - Rocco won it, then gave some silly-ass reason why he shouldn't give him the money back like 'I'll get the next one'.

I was pretty sure he was stuck - wouldn't surprise me if he only pulls these sorts of things when down money.

really loud and obnoxious, wears a lot of jewelry, talks about how much money he wins, greasy italian guy? super weak-tight and always calls out people hands (which is always the nuts) and talks about how good his folds are? i've seen him wear a michael vick jersey twice in the maybe 5 times i've seen him. same guy?

Re: Best 10-25 NL Player at Borgata?

why are you guys beating on rocco? I have never seen him angle shoot, he is a pleasure to talk to while I sit there and fold all day long like all the nits since there is ZERO. READ ZERO. [censored] ACTION AT BORGATA. Get rocco to your left, it becomes the new nl game where you get the button twice a round. he [censored] runs the floor too, I've been there and not had a poker rate room at borg., he found a way to hook me up with the right floor guy.

if you want to talk about angle shooting, you should talk about that [censored] sean. he was playing 5/10 last year, and went from 5/10 to 50/100 in like a month, it was [censored] sick, they were all talking about how sick he ran. Anyway, i forget action, but river goes down how ever, all the money goes in, sean has nothing, trying to bluff some old nit off AA or something, the guy ssays something under his breath that the table can't hear, so sean says, oh did you say call? well i have a straight. the guy flips saying he didnt say call and he was thinking, and sean starts arguing about how he said call, but not in an active kinda way, the guy instamucks his hand and sean [censored] has this [censored] eating grin on his face and very casually shows his buddy nothing but no one else at the table, and instamucks as well, obv. it's borgata so the dealer misses all of us this, pretty big pot for 5/10 too. a [censored] dbag i tell you.

based on my limited experience with some of the players the two that stick out in my mind are troy and phillies hat mike. I think troy is probably the best player in the game but I haven't played with everybody enough give a very informed opinion. I agree with this:

AZK,

You don't know Rocco very well. He is the biggest angle shooter at Borgata. He would run the time pots. I seen it when a fish would win and he would not ask for time from the fish, waiting for a skill player to win and then ask for the time pot.

Who is this sean guy? Can you describe him?

Usually has goatee, Brownish/redish hair with some freckles, probably about 5-10, not skinny but not fat, usually wears a hat and sunglasses, early to mid 30's. Looks a little bit like a badass but is actually a nice guy with a fun / sarcastic personality (he might come off as an a-hole to some). I think he actually lives in Maryland or something and comutes to AC every week. You might have played with him at the bellagio this summer also because he made several trips.

Re: Best 10-25 NL Player at Borgata?

5'11" - 6'1" easy 200+ seems like he has a lot of muscle and fat, i think he has gained weight in the last year, he was at wpt borgata carrying over 4 racks of black to the 50/1 game. He used to paly 5/10, plays the 10-25 also, buys in big now, was on the tour for a little I heard from some local, normally hair combed forward with some gel, that's about all i got.

I guess I don't mind roccos 'angle shooting' since it is so insignificant to me that I think "who cares". I mean so rocco adds greens into a capped 5/10 game, big [censored] deal. Like they will ever get into play.

Rocco comes across as a nice guy at first but is in fact an a-hole. I saw him get into a huge fight with a black dealer and wanted to go out into the parking lot and fight. The dealer just kindof laughed at him. The dealer messed something up but Rocco was totally out of line.

Re: Best 10-25 NL Player at Borgata?

lol . . . last time I was at the Borg, Rocco pulled the same sh*t at my table . . . demanding to change seats when the table was full and there was no open seat, and then taking his chair from his seat - seat 8 - and cramming it and his chips in between seats 3 and 4 . . . when I told him that he was out of line and couldn't just invent a seat, he said the same thing: wanted to go out in the parking lot and fight me. Security came but didnt escort either of us out. The floor told me they would make a written report of it, but I don't know if that happened.

Re: Best 10-25 NL Player at Borgata?

do you think he could handle himself out in the parking lot?

Re: Best 10-25 NL Player at Borgata?

If, by "handle" you mean "fondle," I'm sure he can and has . . . I know he comes damn close to a mandatory fight under Haralabos Voulgaris' 50 50 rule . . .
