forum does nice job here. Most nominees are worthy. My vote to abbey road though. Some honorable unmentioned:

New York
The Wild, the Innocent and the E street Shuffle
Axis bold as Love
Blood on the tracks
Astral Weeks
Wake of the Flood

Re: Greatest Rock & Roll Album from Start to Finish

johnny- i always thought of astral weeks as more of a jazz album than a rock album.

if we're talking about greatest album ever, then it wins hand down.

these aren't even the best albums by the respective artists.

Thats just silly (esp. for who's next)

most of the hipster stuff isnt really "rock and roll." I mean, even the Beatles arent as pure RaR as stiff like the who or LZ

EDIT: When you say who's next isnt best, I hope you're talking about quad. Despite it worth, bloated concept albums dont make for great rock and roll. See: the wall.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band-The Beatles

Honorable mention:
Nevermind the Bullocks -The Sex Pistols (if they qualify for rock & roll)

Re: Greatest Rock & Roll Album from Start to Finish

cmi-

do you really think that IV> II? II is the most mind blowing stuff since the yardbirds. IV is just jimmy page pretension mainfesting itself in stolen licks and awful attempts at "poetry".

as for the who, i think the who sell out is a lot better than who's next. who's next is a fantastic album, but after baby o'reilly the album drags until the second side.

if i really wanted to start a big internet fight, i'd say that "the who sings my generation" is clearly their best album. i think that i can make a pretty awesome argument there, btw.

i share your sentiments regarding quad fwiw.

as for the hipster stuff, that was mainly just ribbing. although i expected you to say revolver as the best rar album. you guys love that stuff.

and i'd def say sex pistols are rar. if you want to do punk vs rar, fine. but i think that they're rar.

holla.

As bad as this sounds, there really isnt a LZ album that I like besides IV, and I LOVE IV

I honestly dont think any of their other albums are all that great

II is great and underappreciated, but IV is a masterpiece. it's probably so overplayed that you don't appreciate some of the stuff anymore, with II at the opposite end of the spectrum

Although OK Computer is my favorite album of all-time, for " Greatest Rock & Roll Album from Start to Finish" I would pick:

Oh, I meant trace. Route is just a song on that album. And yes, in my opinion, from start to finish, it's tops.
