How\'s my Line?

This hand actually occurred in my last home game. Was my play poor?

Hand is announced to be the last of the night. Stack sizes are approximations. Bet sizes are more accurate.

I'm Hero in MP with Ad, 2h, 3d, 4s.

SB $50
BB $80
UTG $10
Hero $165
CO $60
Button $100

UTG Limps, Hero Raises to $2.50, Everyone calls (Pot $15)

Flop: 2d, 8d, 10c

SB checks, BB Bets $10, UTG Calls all-in for $7.50, Hero Raises to $30, 3 folds, BB Pushes all-in for $42.more, Hero Calls $42.

Home game, last hand announced, you are the big stack, even if dealt AA23 fold pre flop and go home. No skill involved , all the losers will push anything hoping to break even or get a little win or pick up on a loss. Its like showdown , a waste of time and skill does not matter. If you had AA23 and showed your cards the losers would still push as much as possible hoping to win. Its just a fun game to most. If you are serious about winning and playing good just fold to any raise with even the best starting hand possible.

Are you serious? You flop the nut low draw with counterfiett protection, and the nut flush draw, and you're afraid to get your money into the pot in this spot?

I'm assuming it came high cards or paired/paired and you lost everything.

Don't be results-oriented.

In a home game be results oriented and go home a winner and fold or dont play when someone says---"Last Hand"

For those of you who made constructive remarks, thank you. I don't care that I lost the hand, but I don't play enough OH8. With the exception of playing the "Last Hand," I have no qualms with the way the hand played out.

Thanks for suggesting not playing the last hand. That's good advice.

Re: How\'s my Line?

FOLD?? Are you kidding? Nut low draw, nut flush draw...PUSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH all of it in. What does it matter that it is the "last hand"?? Who cares. The fact that other people will come into the pot to break even, or try to make up for their losses for the night is an extraneous fact. The fact here is that you are on TWO monster draws and the math says to push, so you push.

The fact that you lost the hand...BIG DEAL. You played the hand perfectly and that is all that you can do. This "welll it is the last hand so you mind as well fold" is nuts. By that philosophy you should have left the game the second you were up at all..."Oh, made 10 bucks, ok guys, I'm leavin'..." That's a punk play. Yes they are your friends, but this is poker and you are in it to win it. Everyone, hopefully is a grown up at that table, they all know that they can lose money from playing, so don't give me this friendly game bs. They want to make money. If they didn't, then the guy with the 80 bucks would not have pushed all in either.
Yes poker is a social event, but at the end of the day it is a game of money and people going into it should know that if they come to a home game with 100 bucks, or whatever amount, then they should know beforehand that they may come home with zippo. Plain and simple. If they don't like that, then they shouldn't play.

"If you are serious about winning"....then you get your money in there when you have the edge. The problem here is about session length. You have to look at your poker games as ONE LARGE SESSION. So the hand lost here and a lot of money lost here, that doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things because I'm pretty sure you will be playing poker with your buddies in a home game soon enough.

MONSTER HAND MONSTER DRAW there is no question what to do.

The Hun.

Absolutely. Getting tons of action with an awesome hand sucks. You should probably just move on to a tougher home game or play some higher stakes online; that way, people will actually fold. It has been confirmed time and again in the BBV forum that it is impossible to win against bad players.

I hope this is a joke, because it is certainly some of the worst advice ever.

My bad, I haven't been active on this forum for years, and I don't know the regulars now, except Buzz. I can see from some of his other posts that this was obviously not a serious post.
