I gained a [censored] of respect for him as a person after this interview [/ QUOTE ] You mean when he was throwing his all-in chip and taunting and goading Jamie Gold? Yea, Nice and peaceful Prahlad Friedman. Hell of a guy! Next time answer the question from the poker reporter about poker and butt-out of world affairs. Or atleast try not to attack another player at the table with your all-in chip. |
Re: Prahlad Friedman Interview

sekrah, that wasn't Pralahd [/ QUOTE ] It was reported in one of the recent main event threads that Cardplayer incorrectly reported it being Eric Molina, but it was infact Prahlad. I'm sure the link is around here somewhere. |

Let's just spend our 24 hours, 7 days, 52 weeks going around repeating, "Gee, I'd be alot happier if there wasn't any war." Aug 10: "Hey Prahlad, How are you today?" "Miserable. There's war." Aug 11: "Hey Prahlad, What's up?" "Just war. Everywhere." Aug 12: "Hey Prahlad, What's new man? "Nothing new, same old war killing people." Go stuff it in a sack. We'd all be living in caves if every person on the planet just walked around moping all day about conflicts they have no control over. There's people being murdered and raped every day in THIS country.. Why not say something about that. "Hey Prahlad, Are you upset you were eliminated today?" "No, I'm just happy I wasn't raped and murdered today with all the crime around here." Put him in a strait jacket. |

Mahatma is a politics student and the son of a politician. Of course he is going to have a political perspective on things... [/ QUOTE ] How about do it in the realm of politics? Or if you're going to mope around about a cause, do it about a cause you can actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT. Talk about donating money to cure cancer, parkinsons, etc.. Big Brother/Big Sister in your local neighborhoods.. Whatever.. MAKE A DIFFERENCE instead of moping around. He's entitled to whatever opinion he has, but when a POKER REPORTER asks you how you feel after being busted about of a POKER EVENT, don't <insert anti-war line here>. You guys are a bunch of weinies. |
Re: Prahlad Friedman Interview
excellent interview. my reaction was, "such a badass." must be nice to 'grind it out at 200/400 NL,' as another posted said.
i tend to want people to stfu when they inject political arguments into non-political topics. actors do this constantly and i wish they'd all stfu regardless of their views. but i have to say you saw it coming given his past. no complaints, though. when he won his 2003 wsop bracelet he bashed the iraq war and that was at a time when so-called "patriotism" (aka jingoism) was rampant in this country. that was pretty brave of him, and you have to respect that. it's so trendy now to be anti-bush and especially anti-war but he's been that way all along. agree or disagree, opposing views are often stifled in this country, and maybe he didn't pick the right/best venue for his speech, but he still expressed a very unpopular opinion at the time and didn't give a [censored] what others thought of him or his beliefs. |

He's already king dork for his lame raps. Now he's a pathetic little moper. |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm definently no war hawk, believe me. I believe going into Iraq was a mistake. But I cringe at these very same people like Friedman who huff and puff with anti-war and anti-Bush rhetoric, but they would also sit on their hands and keep their traps shut when thugs like Pol Pot, Saddam Hussein, and Robert Mugabe slaughter people. Friedman is just another in a long line of patently absurd phonies. |
Re: Prahlad Friedman Interview
Sekrah, you know what's more annoying than people who inject their political views unprovoked?
People who don't stop bitching about those people. |
Re: Prahlad Friedman Interview
Nothing wrong with Prahlad. He ain't breaking no rules. Perhaps people need to look at their envy instead of at Prahlad.
cheers Boon |
Re: Prahlad Friedman Interview
Sorry for being an idiot, but where is this interview? Not only is there no link anywhere in the thread, but not even a mention of a website. That makes me think its super obvious and I'm just out of the loop.

Re: Prahlad Friedman Interview
He's an ethnic studies student, but, of course, at Berkeley, everything is politicized to the point where you can't learn anything. You come out knowing what you came in--that is if you were properly indoctrinated to begin with.

Re: Prahlad Friedman Interview
So even when families are getting bombed out of their houses everyday, soldiers are dieing for what appears to be the wrong cause, diseases and poverty are spread everywhere we have to label and wrap this up as a 'political issue'(for the sole reason of it being started by politicians), and discuss when and where it is 'proper' to adress these kind of events. I think i would know where these families would like you to stick your 'proper guidelines' for the attention of their misery. Blehhhhhhhh.....

for someone whose eccentricities have been well enough documented in his play online, I think the interview shows just how well grounded this guy is. for a guy who gambles for a living, I dont know if its his upbringing or his Berkeley schooling that does it, but he "gets it".

[/ QUOTE ] POTD I went to Oberlin for a year and I can tell you that you basically hit the nail on the head... [/ QUOTE ] You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. My guess is you're getting your information about Berkeley from events that happened there forty years ago. I doubt you or ChicagoY have been within 500 miles of Berkeley. When I attended, it had an extremely conservative political science department with one professor of mine, for example, advocating that we should have taken more aggressive military action against Viet Nam, and another who claimed on the first day of class that war is necessary. Because a student body may be liberal, that does not mean the faculty or the administration will be regardless of what Bill O'Reilley tells you. And unfortunately, the student body was overrun by fraternities at the time too. Gold had been calling with trash all day, then bluffing on the flop. It was nothing to his stack at the time. Read Schmead.... don't do it against the LAG huge chip leader. |
Re: Prahlad Friedman Interview
The real question is what drugs hes into these days. I remember the circuit episode, he sounded like a pre-pubescent tool and all the sudden he comes on sounding like hes baked.
