Bribing police officers
I'm in absolutely no trouble with the law, but I was wondering something.
First question. This is certainly location dependent. But, roughly what proportion of police officers would you say is bribeable? Broad question since circumstances could change it one way or another, but you can elaborate however you want. Second question: Have you, or any friends ever had firsthand experience with a crooked or bribeable cop? interesting stories appreciated |

Stop believing everything you see on TV and in the movies.

Certain places you'd have a lot higher success then others, but overall I think it's a really bad idea in the usa.

But I did it when I was busted in Thailand. The cop basically told me I could either give him $2,000 USD or spend a couple of months in a Thai prison. It was probably the single easiest decision of my life. |

[/ QUOTE ] Nothing too crazy really. Got busted with a big bag of weed during a spot check in Northern Thailand. Cops just stopped our driver on the highway (we were coming back from a trek near Chiang Mai) and had us all empty our bags and pockets. There was no sense in even trying to hide it. The main cop simply suggested that I could avoid prison if I gave them the equivalent of $2K. I didn't have that much cash on me, so he generously offered to drive me to the local Western Union-type place to wait for a wire transfer. From what I learned later - it was a damn good thing I didn't have opium (or something stronger) on me. They are very serious about that. I had purchased around a half-ounce for less than $5. So what began as the cheapest weed I ever bought ended up being the most expensive. |

Re: Bribing police officers
IF by bribe you mean kill, then yes, I bribe officer's all the time. However, this usually brings along other troubles, so I would not recommend this unless you are highly skilled in the art of Ninjutsu. Actually, I probably still wouldn't recommend this.

Re: Bribing police officers
Here in Jersey, I don't think it would be that difficult, but it would have to be in the neighborhood of a few grand because these guys are paid pretty well.

Re: Bribing police officers
depends on what kind of town you grow up in, personally, I dont think its that tough to...well..not bribe, but drop names, etc to get out of a ticket even a possesion charge, but Im sure you could bribe 90% of cops in East St. Louis.

Re: Bribing police officers
US Cops: <1%
Mexico Cops: >50% (this number goes higher the further south you travel) |
Re: Bribing police officers
Yes, in Mexico. I think I gave him $200... problem is I didn't really do anything they could prove and would've gotten out the next day. Still worth it but I felt dumb afterwards.
