i think gold winning will depend primarily on his ability to accumulate all the chips by the end of the final table. discuss.

Re: WSOP Day 7 Main Event Thread
I think it will be hard to make a good prediction until we get to the final table to be honest. so much can happen between now and then. gold could be the next andrew black.

Re: WSOP Day 7 Main Event Thread
Andrew Black found a way to donk away a huge stack last year, while Joe Hachem nursed his short stack, picked his spots, and went on to win the bracelet.
In other words, a big stack is nice, but it's anything but a guarantee. |
Re: WSOP Day 7 Main Event Thread
the way people have been getting knocked out in this tourney, nursing the short stack is definitely a viable strategy waiting for your spots while slowlymoving up the pay ladder

Andrew Black found a way to donk away a huge stack last year [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, and Black actually made it to the final table. Gold isn't even there yet. The all-in donkfest that is now the Main Event makes it even more likely that Gold will self-destruct. The chip lead with 27 players left really doesn't mean that much. Gold is only two hands away from busting out. |
Jamie Gold Info
Jamie Gold is currently a TV producer who used to be a Hollywood agent. Among his clients were Donny Wahlberg, Brandi, James Galdonfini, and Felicity Huffman. He lives in Malibu, California, and plays at the Commerce and the Hustler.
Here is his bio: Jamie Gold Bio Given his background, he must have very good "people skills". In fact, he claims he has no style. What he does is dependent on who he is facing. Let's see if he can hold on to his lead. |

No. The character is named Ari Gold, but he's based on a notoriously abrasive agent named Ari Emanuel. [/ QUOTE ] No, he's not talking about ari, he's talking about vince. Mark Wahlberg produces the show or something and the premise is loosely based on his rise to stardom. |

Re: WSOP Day 7 Main Event Thread
Jamie Gold is a Bodog qualifier. Here's what they say on him:
LAS VEGAS - Bodog player Jamie Gold may have an edge on the competition. The film producer recently shot a show on Johnny Chan. In return, the famed poker pro taught Gold to play cards. His lessons must have paid off as Gold has placed in the money in the last few tournaments he's played. As Chan is also playing today, we're hoping for a teacher/student match up. Then we'll see how well Gold paid attention! |
Re: WSOP Day 7 Main Event Thread
Here's some more odds to win from bluesq.com, if you want to bet "each way", (finish in the top 3), the odds would be N/4 instead of N/1:
Jamie Gold 5/1 Erik Friberg 8/1 David Einhorn 10/1 Rhett Butler 11/1 Allen Cunningham 11/1 Dan Nassif 12/1 Michael Binger 12/1 William Thorsson 14/1 Jeffrey Lisandro 14/1 Kevin Aaronson 16/1 Richard Lee 16/1 Doug Kim 20/1 John Magill 20/1 Prahlad Friedman 20/1 Kevin O'Donnell 25/1 Eric Lynch 25/1 Rob Roseman 33/1 Leif Force 33/1 Sirious Jamshidi 40/1 Dustin Holmes 40/1 Lee Kort 40/1 Fred Goldberg 40/1 Richard Wyrick 66/1 Paul Wasicka 66/1 Luke Chung 66/1 Siddharth Jain 66/1 Mark Garner 66/1 |

Re: WSOP Day 7 Main Event Thread
I guess they are starting out playing 30K/60K. The average stack has about 3.2M or 53xBB. This is deeper than a typical Internet tournament, live daily tournament, or WPT final table, but shallower than a cash game. There are a lot of short stacks with 10-20xBB, so I would expect some allins preflop with open pushes or reraises/resteals. There should be several bust outs in the next round.
|
Re: WSOP Day 7 Main Event Thread
There's still about 1.5 hours left in the 25/50/5k level.
|
Re: WSOP Day 7 Main Event Thread
So Rizen's got more chips than 10 players left and NONE of them are at his table? RIGGED!!@!

Re: WSOP Day 7 Main Event Thread

There's still about 1.5 hours left in the 25/50/5k level. [/ QUOTE ] So the average stack is 64xBB and average M is 27. Still some short stacks are going to be making moves and going busto. |
Re: WSOP Day 7 Main Event Thread
[ QUOTE ]
you have a lot of faith in Rizen vs one of the best NL players alive [/ QUOTE ] It has nothing to do with faith in Rizen. In fact, in the other thread I clearly said that Prahlad is a better player than Rizen. But they are both top players with almost the same number of chips, so those odds were too good to pass up. Prahlad's edge is mainly shorthanded and deep-stacked, and the last longer bet will likely be settled long before it gets short-handed. I think that a fair line on Rizen v. Prahlad is probably around +115, so I will take those generous lines all day. |
Re: WSOP Day 7 Main Event Thread
This structure gives such a huge advantage to good cash/tourney players.
|
Re: WSOP Day 7 Main Event Thread
Unfortunately the table draw doesn't help my Rizen v. Prahlad last-longer.
It does, however, help my Lisandro v. Cunningham last-longer. |

[/ QUOTE ] I was saying that the deep stacks and high M gives an advantage to good players (cash or tournament players). As opposed to online or other tourney structures where average M is much smaller on the bubble and luck plays a much bigger role. Don't be a moran. |
Re: WSOP Day 7 Main Event Thread
does anyone know if they are taking a day off tomorrow or playing the FT one day early?

Re: WSOP Day 7 Main Event Thread
Speaking of bets...a Swedish online bookie were to post a last longer between Friberg and Thorsson.
The thing was...they had the two confused, so Friberg paid 2.7 in our way of writing odds (Pay $100, get your $100 plus $170 if your bet wins) until they took it down... |
