Data Mining QA

I have been doing some searches on data mining, but could someone please give me a good explanation of what it is and does. I currently dont have any of the software like PA, but I am looking into getting it, and I was just wondering what data mining means...thanks

data mining in the context of online poker means gathering statitics on potential opponents in large quantities, usually via observed hand histories which are then organized in a program like pokertracker and used in conjunction with a program like pokerace to provide reads on players.

thanks for that...that is what I was thinking...What would be the first step in starting this...I know you need Poker Tracker, and a program like Poker Ace, but then what?

How's that? Even if we assume by "overnight" you mean 24 hours. That's over 200 hands per table/hour.

Is this for me or OP?

Either. If you are manually opening tables, then PMine will help since it will open them all night automatically as the games break down.

Yeah I aready have Partymine. I even paid for it. I only get like 24K hands a day out of it though on 6-max tables. Are other people getting more?

Re: Data Mining QA

I have it running on 2 different systems, so I guess I am probably getting more, since I am mining 20 tables whenever I am not playing. I could do more I guess, but I just dont feel like setting it up on every system in the house.

by a hand i dont mean 1 complete HH, i mean a hand on a villain, so i get 9-10 hands per hand dealt at a table

I dl'ed partymine, installed, configured and ran it. But when I stop mining, there is nothing in the download directory. Any idea on the problem? Thanks.

You have to set up PT to import observed hands.

[/ QUOTE ]Whenever Party closes, it deletes all the observed HHFs. You have to import before closing. I suggest importing every ~30 minutes.
