WSOP Main Event Day 3 Thread

~1150 trying to get into the final 873 money spots today.
Starting with 1 hour left in level 11 (600/1200/200), should get interesting to see when they start the round for round nonsense. Good luck to those 2p2'ers still in it.

Round for round seriously is nonsense... Whoever thought of it, should be educated on how much of an idiot they are. Seriously.

Table 137, Seat 2. 55.2k.

GL Jason (THEOSU), Eric (Rizen), Andrew (Foucault), Jason (Strassa), and all other 2p2ers playing today.

Round for round seriously is nonsense...

In principle this is a pretty good fix for the whole delaying tactic once it gets close to the bubble. I find that infuriating, since invariably everyone is delaying, so there is little benefit.

Each table plays 1 orbit. Say if 880 are left, and 20 get eliminated, those 20 will get paid for a lower amount than the ~14k for the first level of those making the money.

I'm thinking there might not be a round for round. There's an advertisement for a freeroll SnG to next year's main event for the last 9 players out of the money.

Re: WSOP Main Event Day 3 Thread

if 874 are left, instead of playing hand-for-hand every table plays 1 full round of hands.

What I'm not clear on is how they distribute money if 10 people get knocked out during the round. Does the player who started the round with the fewest chips get nothing, or do they all tie for 865th-874th and split 9 cashouts 10 ways?

I suspect it's the latter.

Also, do they do this at every payout level?

Kevmath 08-04-2006 01:28 PM

Re: WSOP Main Event Day 3 Thread

It's the latter, and no it's not round for round at every payout level.

Re: WSOP Main Event Day 3 Thread

thank you for clearing this up... Earlier in the WSOP it was explained to me that it was by the LEVEL - nobody said anything about the tables playing a full orbit...

So I was under the impression that anybody who finished in the 45-odd minutes that were left in the level all split the cash, which seemed absolutely rediculous...

Cardplayer says 606 survived 2B here but here it says there are more than 1500 players left. So does that mean that more than 900 survived 2A but only 606 2B? I guess it's not really a "problem", just an interesting observation.

I don't see what you're getting at. They randomly draw table seating, then pick the best table for TV.

On a flop of 8diamond6heart2club James Johnson ($59,300) leads out for $6,000 and Daniel Negreanu ($331,000) calls. Johnson bets $6,000 at the 7diamond turn and Negreanu raises to $26,000 and Johnson moves all-in for $43,300. Negreanu calls with 9club9spade versus Johnson's QclubQdiamond. The river Jclub brings no help to Negreanu and he loses a big pot early, falling to $271,700 while Johnson doubles up.

I'm saying, somewhat sarcastically, that it was a virtual given that whichever table Annie Duke was assigned to was going to be picked as the feature table by ESPN.
