What are the peak times/peak days for online poker???

I haven't been playing poker online for that long and everytime I log on there seems to be either a lot of players or not many at all. I've seen some people talk about "Peak" times for play and was was wondering what time that was. Also, does it vary depending on what day of the week? What about differnt cites (I usually play at Pacific BTW)? Any observations would be helpful, thanx.

To see the peak times/days for a site, click on the site and look for the "Site History."

Re: What are the peak times/peak days for online poker???

FWIW, I play between 10.30pm ET (3.30am BST in the UK) and finish up around 2.30 am ET (7.30am UK); but I'll hang around the computer for another 2 hours picking off one or two fishy tables. I find about 11pm ET that Stars hits >100k

The best nights are (of course) Friday and Saturday. Sunday is next best, then Thursday down to Monday backwards respectively.

This is purely experiential and speculative.

Pacific should be good all the time but better on those days and peak times!

So hijack, do people think the games noticeably soften *before* 10.30 ET and I'm giving up some fishing time?

Actually, if you go by peak cash game players, Saturday night is the worst night of the week, followed by Friday and Sunday. The best night of the week, believe it or not, is Monday, with about 18% more peak players than Saturday.

Here are the average peak players over the last several weeks at Party and Stars.

Day Stars Party

Sun 8595 12549
Mon 9265 13899
Tue 9166 13467
Wed 9113 13291
Thu 9053 13601
Fri 8413 12901
Sat 7841 11740

Weekends have more players at off-peak times, though.

So...you're saying...that...that...normal people have things to do on the weekends other than play poker? I'm not sure I understand.

It seems like this may be seasonal.

What are the averages for winter months?

I'd tell you if I knew, but we didn't open our doors until late April.

People play more on weekends not less, but they are not concentrated that much during evening hours.

No matter how many people play on fri/sat those nights are still great because of the % of players that have been drinking. It's not really about the total #.

General consensus???

Thank you all for posting and I wanted to know if you all agree with this general consensus:

-In terms of volume for the entire day: Saturday and Sunday has the most players. However, they are generally spread throughout the day and evening.
-Friday down to Monday has most users in that order. However, Monday up to Friday has the most concentrated players during the “Peek Hours.”
-“Peek Hours” can generally be defined as between 10:30 PM – 2:00 AM EST.
-Friday and Saturday nights are the fishiest nights because of the fact that many people are playing intoxicated.
-Poker Site Scout is a great place to get up-to-date information on the number of players broken down by game and limit.

If anyone disagrees or has any other observations PLEASE post them.

I have two issues with that statement. First, many sites have a mostly European player base, including Microgaming/Prima network, CryptoLogic network, PokerRoom/Ongame network, International/Boss Media network, B2B network, Tribeca network, Pacific, iPoker network, Everest, Tain network and Ladbrokes. All of those sites tend to have their peak around 2 pm Pacific/5 pm Eastern.

The more American-centered sites tend to have their peak around 8 pm Pacific/11 pm Eastern, which is near the front end of your range. I'd say the peak hours in terms of traffic are more like 8 pm - 1 am Eastern. The peak hours for drunken playing may be a bit later than that.

Oh, and if we're going to be nitpicky, it's EDT at this point, not EST.
