My friends suck (trip report)
 

Tonight, about 10 of my friends are getting together to party at my friend's fat house. One of my friends is able to get the girl he is seeing to come over with 4 of her friends that are all doable, some better than that. I end up meeting them at the gate to the community and bring them to the house. On the way to the backyard, I ask if any of them brought their swimsuits. They respond that they didn't but they have bra and panties or they could go in nothing at all. Sweet! This is starting off very well. We make the introductions and get the ladies settled with some delicious Keystone Lights. I'm up on the Beruit table and I'm able to recruit the best looking one to play as my partner while the four others are being amazed by my sinking skills. While the game is going on, ZERO of my friends make any kind of attempt to talk to the girls or entertain in any way. It was like that scene from Revenge of the Nerds before Booger busted out the fat joints. Things are going well with my beruit partner and I'm getting good vibes, which are also noticed by the only cool friend I have. Unfortunately, as could be predicted, the other girls are getting bored and begin to get on their cell phones. This is not a good sign but there is still time if my friends had any balls at all. Unfortunately, they do not. As you can guess, the other girls aren't having fun so they decide they want to leave. This results in all the girls having to leave and my chance at getting laid goes to 0. My friends suck.

You shoulda forced them into talking and hanging with the other chicks, Mack Daddy. Shoulda busted out Twister or some other group game that would've involved everybody. Or had everyone jump into the pool, duh.

Look, you played horribly and got burned because of it. If your friends have no game, you should know this going in and be prepared; you shouldn't ever depend on your friends for action just as, obviously, they shouldn't depend on you.

Your friends are chumps and while you're probably not, you acted like one by continuing to play when clearly your friends were messing up hard. Do whatever you have to do, but using the excuse of playing makes you no better than your friends who were doing nothing. If this is a team game and you are clearly the captain, act like it.

At any point did you ever consider re-focusing your efforts here?

You should've become the 'life of the party.'

Made everyone laugh. Loosened your friends up. Made a couple jokes/references to things - leading the way for your friends to be more fun/talkative.

You would've had to focus LESS on your hot chick, but at least she would've stayed, and it would've been worth it.

You guys are right in that I should except some of the blame in this situation. I was having a good time playing the game, talking [censored], etc. and didn't really notice the situation until it hit code red status. I mistakenly counted on my lame ass friends to come through when they did not. What sucks so bad is there was tons of weed, alcohol and a great location for a wonderful night and it all went to [censored].

Yet another example of why Beer Pong/Beirut is the most over-rated party game of all time. Takes up space, only involves a few people, isolates girls too much because they usually lose too much, degrenerates in to [censored] meathead fights about whos up next way too much and is completely anti-social with the rest of the people at the party. Granted it usually is better at a small setting like yours, but obviously still has its flaws.

Your correct play: Flip cup with everyone there; Talk [censored]; Get in "team" mentality with the hot girl next to you; Start talking trash to her next hottest friend on other team; if game gets rowdy/messy enough, start throwing beer then everyone in the pool to wash off.

Digg and a few others got this right,

As soon as you notice this problem, set up the next game to be flip cup/a card game/anything else and get everyone involved. Beirut is fine when people can handle socializing away from the game, but obviously your friends can't so you need a more inclusive game.

Or get the [censored] in the pool, jeez.

? Granted when I first started playing it, I learned it as beer pong in NY, but when I came to school in Massachusetts, almost everyone called it beirut.
