fairly normal 6 max game on UB i have 99 and 6k in the BB. Player A (covers) opens for 175 player B (2600) calls on the button and I call in the BB.

Flop 2 5 7 (2 spades, I have none).

I lead for 400, initial raiser folds, shortstack insta moves in for his remaining 2500 or so. I???

Comments everywhere appreciated.

Looks like flush draw, could be nicely played set. 88 maybe. Range is wide, its close but I would call.

Man I hate shortstacks. Is this one a really tight shortstack or more of donk shortstack? I'm only folding this to shortstacks I've played with before and know are good at shortstacking (meaning they are only moving in with a flush draw at worst)

I would fold. I think his range of overpairs and sets outweighs the times he has a flush draw, and even if he has a flush draw, he still has decent equity in the pot.

Essentially, if he's behind, he's drawing very live most of the time (even with two overcards, he's not in TOO bad shape, and that's best-case scenario), and if he's ahead, he has you crushed

Well since you don't give any reads such as "short stack is really tight, playing with scared $, a loose donk, etc" I am assuming this is an unknown.

IMO it would be really foolish for someone to push this flop with a set considering you will most likely not have a strong enough hand to call. Therefore I say he most likely a flush draw or something like a pair and a flush draw.

Also, depending on his playing style it is possible he has 1010 or JJ and doesn't reraise preflop with these holdings.

Overall though knowing your style I am sure you called this bet.

If he wants to get it in, he'd probably flat call or min raise or something. You rarely see short stacks play big hands this fast. Maybe something like TT...

The shortstack has no reason to put hero on a strong hand (he called a small raise in BB). Nor does he have reason to think hero is bluffing. Therefore, he probably puts hero on a medium-strength hand like a 7, straight draw, whatever. Getting 2-1 I call for sure unless I know the guy who is pushing.

I feel like it's a close decision, but slightly -EV. Short stack or not, that's a decent raise he made and your pot odds are not great.

you're flipping a coin vs a flush draw since he's going to have outs beyond the flush. sometimes his flush draw is a favorite vs your 9s, but of course with the pot odds if you put him squarely on flush draw you call. unfortunately, he's quite possibly on a medium strength made hand like the tens here. he has to have a fair number of weaker made hands in his range to make this a good call, and i don't think he really does.

i tend to call here because i hate short stacks and never respect their bets, but if i've seen this guy playing solid i'd strongly consider folding.
