Party Poker Monster Thread
Looks like an extreme version of BBJ to me. I think they build a jackpot and hold a big tournament once they have enough participants. How do they select participants? Through some kind of bad beat is my guess. Also it looks like the prize pool is going to be around 10 million or so.
Discuss. Edit: This info. comes form the Party Life magazine. Anyone who plays at PP and is a member if PPA should have gotten it. I tossed mines so someone else should check. |

Re: Party Poker Monster Thread
Monster Jackpot cash games:
When a jackpot hits, the players dealt into the jackpot hands will win entries into the $100,000 Monster Weekly Freeroll of their choice! You can also win a Monster Weekly freeroll when you are not at the jackpot table! Simply be dealt into a raked hand when the jackpot hits, at a Monster Jackpot table of the exact same type (same game, maximum number of seats, and limits/antes/blinds), and you'll grab an entry as well! http://www.partypoker.com/monster/qualifiers/ |
Re: Party Poker Monster Thread
i HATE the fact that they put these on the top of the menu. the fish are going to flock.

Re: Party Poker Monster Thread
I guess this explains why we've had no July VIP. They've been too busy working on this dumb promo...
|
Re: Party Poker Monster Thread
Bad beat I think, but not sure.

Bad beat I think, but not sure. [/ QUOTE ] 6666. I think it's half bad beat jackpot, half tournament entries to something or other. It's going to take 11 months... |
Re: Party Poker Monster Thread
It's not a new VIP offer but we get point targets for the weekly freeroll...woohhhhooooooooo
"Starting on Aug. 1, 2006, all you have to do is earn the specified number of PartyPoints in the required timeframe and you'll win one entry into a $100,000 Monster Weekly freeroll." enjoy |
Re: Party Poker Monster Thread
I really hope this is not some how going to be considered the VIP offer. I know it is open to everyone, but you know how Party rolls... this could be it for the next 11 months. UGH!!!

Re: Party Poker Monster Thread
I'm a pretty decent Party customer because I'm lazy. I don't table select, which probably means I just pass around money in some games, and also I don't do all that Rakeback stuff. I gather this means Party makes a full profit off of me.
But even my laziness has bounds. If this is all we get, I'm drifting away from Party. |
Re: Party Poker Monster Thread
I just sent vip@ this email:
Hello, I had heard there was a July VIP promo being planned. I woke up this morning and read about the Monster promo. Is this all there is, or can I still expect a VIP-only promotion? Anxiously, Brainwalter |

Cool, keep us posted.

Each time you earn enough Regular PartyPoints to qualify for a $100,000 Monster Weekly Freeroll entry, PartyPoker.com will immediately add cash to the Monster Grand Final prize pool. For example, you might be asked to earn 2,500 regular PartyPoints between July 26, 2006 and August 2, 2006. Every player who earns 2,500 regular PartyPoints in that period will win an entry into the $100,000 Monster Weekly Freeroll. PartyPoker.com will also add $25 to the Monster Grand Final Prize Pool for each player who wins an entry into the $100,000 Monster Weekly Freeroll in this manner [/ QUOTE ] well they've obviously valued a seat at $25 from the other qualification methods too. although they havent set it in stone 2500 points is a bit much for a $25 tourney entry |
Re: Party Poker Monster Thread
for some reason the jackpot just went from 111k to 5 million. Unless I'm seeing things...

Re: Party Poker Monster Thread
What a lame ass promo. if you are not a tournament player this is basically worthless-or if you have a social life as I noticed that the weekly tournies start on Sat. at 6 p.m. and will surely go far in to the night with the thousands of entrants...

These changes suck.
1 table of 5/10 running, and it is *of course* a monster table that takes extra rake. Bah. Screw Party. Haupt_234 |

[/ QUOTE ] On my 5/10 6max table they are taking 0.50 from each raked hand. 0.35 for the bad beat jackpot and .15 for the Monster. They are converting more and more tables to the Monster promotion. What tables do you think the fish are going to play? The tables in black text or the ones with the nice shiny blue text. They just closed one of my regular tables (3rd time this hour) so they can switch it to a Monster table. |

Re: Party Poker Monster Thread
It really looks like they will convert all tables to Monster tables. I can't believe they're doing this.

Re: Party Poker Monster Thread
Best part of it, is that they have the monster cash games section which only shows monster games. Then there is the normal cash games section that shows both. This is just a way to increase the rake.
It's clever because it attracts fish and takes more money from winning players. Also, the seperated rake leaves a hole in my modded table. |
Re: Party Poker Monster Thread
Well that was fun
I spent almost as much time changing tables as playing because of that dumb converting thing. |

[/ QUOTE ] Is PartyPoker.com charging me more for playing at the Monster Bad Beat Jackpot tables? Not at all. In fact, PartyPoker.com is not even charging the usual 10% administrative fee on any Monster Bad Beat Jackpot. These means that the two prize pools you’re playing for (the Bad Beat Jackpot and Monster prize pools) are even bigger than before. Source: http://www.partypoker.com/monster/faq.html |
Re: Party Poker Monster Thread
Yeah but doesn't that mean we're being charged what they used to charge at BBJ tables, which is more then normal rake.
