esfandiari and hachem 10-25 at rio
esfandiari has 50 grand in cash and 50ish behind in chips. hachem has 75ish.
raise from other player of 200ish 5 callers. flop comes 722. bet 500, hachem raises 2500, esfandiari calls, all else fold. turn comes a J. hachem bets 7000. esfandiari thinks awhile and calls. river comes an A. hachem bets 12000. esfandiari goes in the tank and thinks for 10 minutes. calls. hachem shows 76 and esfandiari wins with 88. comments? |

Re: esfandiari and hachem 10-25 at rio
Since there is no mentioning/description of body language, fiddling with chips/cash etc, I can in no way see how the fact that he has "50 grand in cash and 50ish behind in chips" has any bearing on the analysis as opposed to just saying that he has 100k.
I'm guessing you just found it cool as hell to mention that you saw 50k in live cash. |
Re: esfandiari and hachem 10-25 at rio
yep, that's right later i went back and he had 200ish in cash. and yes, it was insane to see that much money in cash.

1. Fun post.
2. I think we all know what the problems were in this hand. |

Re: esfandiari and hachem 10-25 at rio
I was playing at the table during this hand. Two clarifications that should be made are:
1) The game was actually $25 ante, $50 BB (only one $50 blind with a $25 ante, which plays much bigger than 10-25.. or 25/50 for that matter) 2) The whole table had a side bet going that if you won with 72 and showed, everyone at the table would give you $100. Since everyone was playing 72 everytime they got it, you could see how this would factor in slightly in a hand with a 722 flop. I have never been a huge fan of Antonio, but I must give him credit for those calls. Hachem won about $22k off some guy about an hour later with AA vs KK all in preflop.. so he made it back in short order. Hachem, is a real nice guy. In fact he bought a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue for the table. The table also included at different times; Kenna James, Mike Gracz, and Johnny Chan. I'm proud to say I won my 72 side bet vs. Chan and Hachem... My highlight of the night/trip. |
Re: esfandiari and hachem 10-25 at rio
Did Hachem even bother to put Esfandieri on a hand before he chose what amount to bet on the river? DIIIIICK.

Re: esfandiari and hachem 10-25 at rio
i was thinking the exact same as silverlining1.
hachem seems to keep firing in the hope esfandieri will fold, not putting him on a hand and deciding the best course of action. |

[/ QUOTE ] Obviously I can't say whether or not he was betting the river for value, but I think his bet on the river is requisite. Problem is, I have a feeling Hachem never knew whether he was value-betting or bluffing at any point in the hand. And I'm utterly baffled by his turn bet. |

Re: esfandiari and hachem 10-25 at rio
At my home game, everyone plays 85 like it's the nuts no matter the board. This is particularly true preflop. It really does add to making the game great. And whenever the board comes 885 in a re-raised pot, there is an extra tension...

Re: esfandiari and hachem 10-25 at rio
Lets say hachem saw what esfandiari had in his hand.. Wouldn't he not bet whole lot because it might look like a bluff. But a small valuebet looking bet, like he did. Everybody critizes his play but in my mind it was pretty good agaist esfandiaris hand.. antonio just made a nice call.

Antonio can only beat a bluff, but knows Hachem is probably trying to rep 72 and makes two great calls. |
Re: esfandiari and hachem 10-25 at rio
This hand is funny and proves two things to me.
1. You don't have to be a poker god to win the WSOP (duh). 2. Cash games are different than donkaments. |
Re: esfandiari and hachem 10-25 at rio
$100 per head is way too small for the (72) bounty in such a big game. That and people usually raise PF with the bounty. Hard to put Hachem on 72 if he didn't raise or reraise. What was his position?

I don't get the Hachem haters here. I think that after the flop he decided to take it down and it's a gutsy play. He put him to the test. Many others would have folded 88. I like it.
