Re: Poker Rooms IN South Florida
Welcome to poker hell.
The Indian casinos, Dog and Horse tracks are the only options. Cash games are limited to 2 dollar bets and all tournies are way to much vig and very fast stuctures. On the bright side, all of these place are always busy and full and there are alot of people here whom don't mind spending their mony. If and it's a big if, the Indians were ever able to secure Class 3 gaming and spread full limits, poker hell would turn into poker nirvana imo. |

Hmm.. That really f-ing sucks... Well, 1 question.. HOw did the "Grinder" from Hollywood Florida get so good? Did he just play online, or whats his story?

all tournies are way to much vig and very fast stuctures. [/ QUOTE ] It depends on the buyin amount. The vig is drastically reduced and the starting chips are much more at the higher levels. You do get raped on lower buyin S&G's. The multi table touneys are very good now. They are doing 30-40 min levels and are covering all the blinds whereas before they were 15 min levels and the blinds doubled. You get much more playing time now. |
Re: Poker Rooms IN South Florida
I visit my best friend in South Beach a few times a year and there are:
. Private games (if you can find them) . Gay ass dog track ($2max) . Boats that go to international waters (though there may not be any game when you get there) . The internet |
Re: Poker Rooms IN South Florida
I live in Florida and it is terrible here. I play online only. No use to go out to a casino to play.
Now they have unlimited pots but 2 dollar max bet is still the law. Here's how the Immokalee casino used to be: $10 pot limit; once the pot reached 10 bucks then all cards were turned up and the rest of the board was dealt. Winner gets the pot after the casino raked 2 bucks out. I saw this and never went back. |
Re: Poker Rooms IN South Florida
best bet is sun cruz for cash games-- boats that leave for international waters for like 8 hours- they run like twice a day - daily.
if you are near any hard rock casinos -- they usually run some sng's NL tournies -- like 100-200 buy ins. and they have multi table tournies too. Anything else -- u gotta head over to the Gulf. Good luck -- i;ve recently left florida. It is poker Hell. |

It is poker Hell. [/ QUOTE ] Yep...Save your money, buy a cheap Southwest air fare to Vegas or better yet, go to Mississippi, which is closer and get your fix. Internet is about it after that. |

I've noticed that the structures of a few MTTs have improved slightly, but they're still far from good. If there's a "very good" one somewhere, please tell us. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think he moved up mostly from playing online, but I heard the casinos in Florida also spread 1000 stts, and he was a regular at those. |
Re: Poker Rooms IN South Florida
I just saw this while looking for casino jobs. Anybody know what this place is like?
Gulfstream Park has completed a massive renovation project that has dramatically changed the look and atmosphere of our previous facility. We are currently undergoing additional renovations that will include the installation of 1,500 slot machines as well as Poker Tables. This new state-of-the-art entertainment facility features three spectacular restaurants, a sports/dinner theater, 20 luxury suites, private accommodations for top players, as well as the world-class thoroughbred racing for which Gulfstream Park is renowned. |

[/ QUOTE ] Gulfstream used to be one of the top race tracks in the country, and still attracted some of the top trainers and jockeys for the winter season up until a couple of years ago. Ownership basically tore the place down and rebuilt it this year into a restaurant/entertainment complex and de-emphasized racing in favor of low-stakes poker (the $1/$2 and $2/$2 variety that Florida is so famous for) and the soon-to-be-legal slot machines. It's a nice facility. The best thing it will have going for it competition-wise is that it will be the southernmost facility in Broward County to have slots, which will probably attract a lot of people from Miami-Dade, where slots won't be legal. |
