Thoughts on Men\'s Haircut?

I'm wondering what you think about two questions as far as guys getting a haircut.

1) How much should it cost?

2) Would you feel comfortable with a guy cutting your hair, or just a girl?

For me personally, $15-20, (paid $40 today) and a girl (had a middle-aged gay latino guy asking me if I thought his nephews were hot today, although he did a really good job)

Re: Thoughts on Men\'s Haircut?

This question is fairly lame because:

1) the girl/guy part is pretty irrelevant. It's not like you sit there and pop wood while the person cuts your hair.

2) "Guy only" should be a response. In particular, barbers are traditionally DUDES. The classic barber shop is run by dudes for dudes who want to escape women. Some stock Playboy for you to peruse while you wait to get trimmed.

3) The price is very dependent on the style. A guy getting a buzz cut is rarely going to pay over $20. It's like asking "So, should shirts cost over $35 or under $35?"

11$ at beeks barber shop, I get to watch tv and he does a pretty good job. I've been to salons and paid ~25 for a haircut, and you do get better service with getting shampooed first and all that but I can't amagine that this is worth the 14$ difference.

A good haircut is one of the few things I'm willing to pay a premium price for.

Yeah, the thing with haircuts is it's more about the quality than the price. Some guys just want to shorten their hair with clippers, and that's fine if you can make that work. Marines probably get their hair cut for free on base, and they probably pull plenty of tail.

But if you want to actually get a hair cut and you don't want it to look all butchered, then all hair cuts are not alike.

I happen to pay $40 + tip for my hair cuts. It's just a normal hair cut, but I've been going to the same person for years, and she does a good job every single time. So to me, that's worth it.

here another question you should have asked

edit: the fifth choice should be "semi-monthly" or "once every two months"

If your actually concerned about a guy cutting your hair then your probably in the closet and just don't want to admit it to yourself

Most men hairstylists are far better at cutting guy's hair than chicks.

Re: Thoughts on Men\'s Haircut?

I cut my own hair now. I only cut it about twice a year, but I figure I'm saving $30 a year. It's pretty easy to cut your own hair.

I'm not very comfortable getting my haircut. I can never explain to them exactly what I want and then you have to deal with the dumb questions and awkward silences.

One thing I miss about letting someone cut your hair: The goosebumps you get when they tug at your hair, and take a razor to your neck hair. Giggity.

I don't think it is fair to use that pic for the competition against pbob now. You might look very dapper now and crush bob.

Sorry if it's a dumb thread, I was thinking about it today and was curious of other's opinions.

I'm not uncomfortable with a guy cutting my hair, it's just not a normal occurance for me, as where I live, it's mostly chain haircutting places, rather than barber shops.

I do think that this mightve been one of the best haircuts I've ever gotten, just in that he seemed to actually be thinking and doing stuff, rather than just trying to cut my hair asap and send me out the door. Although I'm leaving DC soon, I think it's worth it to get a "good" haircut in the future.

And if you'd enlighten me, what does a star mean? (i'm guessing it's not good)

Where is "guy only". Most barbers are men, unless you're going to some gay salon place.

What's missing from the poll is Girl or Gay Guy. I want someone to care about how I look. I've said this before, barbers are for people who can choose their haircut by number. A good haircut is definitely worth the price to me.

The only reason I'm every 2 weeks is b/c I shave my head. I really hope the person who gets thier hair cut every week either does the same or is ZJustin.

A good barber will give you a good haircut, and by a good haircut I mean a haircut that doesn't make you look like one of the Fab Five or whichever retard is popular on MTV this week.

$5 Every other week.

Its like a barber/salon. If the guy cuts it he puts on the poker cape and talks about football bets and where good poker games are at.

If its one of the women they ask if it will be the usual and thats it.

Tip whoever you get $5.

Rinse and repeat in 2 weeks.

Re: Thoughts on Men\'s Haircut?

i think this is an interesting question but the poll is messed up. personally

i pay £13 a go, used to be £5 before i moved to university. also i'm real particular about my hair so once i've found someone who does it like i want it, i always go back (even though my hair is real easy to cut).

anyway new poll

My only requirement is they're vietnamese I found a small little place that does a nice job (both the guys and girls) and they give you a warm towel face massage... all this for only $14!!! I can only imagine what goes on in back.

usually i'll just round it to £15 even though I'm meant to be a poor student.
i did go on friday though didn't tip. usually i get 2 notes out and just say keep the change, however i'd just been to the shops and had a load of £ coins. I hand over a £10 note and three £ coins. As i'm switching hands and reaching into my other pocket she smiles, says 'thanks and have a nice day'. She promptly turns around and starts sweeping... so I'm like fine don't get tipped and walk out.

If referring to the poll... pre tip
