This one I felt if he didnt have two pair or AK that he would fold. From the flop action it looked a lot like AQ or AJ which I thought I could make him laydown although Lolo wouldnt usually bet the turn here with atleast AK which was my mistake. But I would have known before the turn if he had AK, TT or AT so I felt he pretty much 3 outed me on the turn. This is normally a good play and its hard to put somebody on A9 although the way he played it would suggest nothing other than A9. Looking back on the hand there is no other possible hand he could have besides A9s here.

Looking back on this one, besides being bad preflop, I'm gonna make him fold the turn if he has JJ -99 which he easily could have. The turn bet didn't have to be that large. $1100 would have achieved the same objective. Probably not worth the risk.

Checking the flop would have been better. Calling 1400 for 8 outs with a 20% redraw on the river is bad poker but I got lucky obviously. I like my turn lead because there is a chance he may check his bottom set, and there are rivers that could kill my action.

Re: A Few Hands against Lolobot

Why is the last hand bad, I mean, do people not repop you with a strong J on that flop? Unless they are only moving in with sets, then I dont see why you didnt just push flop.

Raised2Win 07-20-2006 02:37 PM

Re: A Few Hands against Lolobot

wow deep pots. About the second hand. What do u think he would have done with AK on that one ? Check the river or maybe do something different preflop.

BLdSWtTRs 07-20-2006 02:43 PM

Re: A Few Hands against Lolobot

I know exactly how he plays and usually the mistakes I make are out of lazyness, carelessness, or my machismo. The last hand he definetly has a set over 90% of the time.

The 2nd hand he would have bet smaller if he had AK, but most likely checked the river and/ or probably would have popped it up preflop to like 700.

amoeba 07-20-2006 02:46 PM

Re: A Few Hands against Lolobot

In your view, he is not betting turn in hand 1 with less than AK, so what do you do if he checks behind and river blanks? what do you do when river is a Q?

ahnuld 07-20-2006 02:51 PM

Re: A Few Hands against Lolobot

yeah, you know this, but c/f the turn in the 56 hand. I dont even know if he folds 99-JJ becuase of all the draws, he may just think you got to aggro with one and push those hands anyways.

I looooove the AQ hand. At first glance it seems like an odd fold until you really think about it. NH sir.

Never played with this guy as I haven't logged many hands at 10/20, but it surely seems (from your description) that he only shows strength when he's got a huge hand. Does he make much profit at this level playing like that?

I'm not trying to question anyone's skill level or anything. Like I said, I've never played with the dude. It's Bld's read that I'm basing my question off of.

Most of the posts you see in the HSNL forum is of crazy hands with rebluffs and stuff, so I just assumed that the players that beat those games do not play as straightforward as Lolo seems to play (again, according to Bld's read, NOT MINE..) So the smart-ass responses were unnecessary..

lol odd fold? Cmon man, he flat called BLd's turn raise and then fired 150BBs when the board paired on the river.

LOL

Hands 1 and 3 I would just give up, or bet less on the turn in hand 3; if you fire $1100 you still have enough for a scary PSB river bet (or the threat of one). Hands 2 and 4 look good.

on the AQ hand, do you think he is ever bluffing? he probably doesnt think bld checks a set on that flop so he can rule out a boat for him on river alot, so he knows any other hand cant call 350bb?

I think I would probably bet. The only hand he could possibly ever have if he checked would be AK.

Re: A Few Hands against Lolobot

How does this make sense? With a FH and these stacks, I would expect him to c/r since he knows you should vb any hand that you'll call with and that gives him the best shot at your stack. But with a hand like AK, I would expect bet/fold since you may have a more marginal hand that will pay him off but won't bet when checked to, and he can easily fold to a push since you'll never push a worse hand...

Re: A Few Hands against Lolobot

Hey BLdS,

Lemme see if I can throw out anything new here since I owe you for all the cool posts you put on here...

Anyway, I play against LOL alot and I respect his play. Hand 1, I think you should just give up the turn most of the time as a default. I think if you don't want to give up, firing another barrel is better than check raising. Like you said, LOL (probably) wouldn't bet the turn with AQ, AJ here. I don't think he'd call two big bets with AQ or AJ either. Check-fold or bet. I guess once in awhile CR is fine to pick him off if he's betting with a flush /straight/combo draw but I think after he calls that flop and then bets the turn, he normally (75%+) will call your CR here.

Hand 2: I like the fold though if he bet 1/2 the pot, I'd call. Your turn raise is fine. I guess sometimes he could have a flush draw that wiffed, but not enough to make the call. River is a terrible card. Well played.

Hand 3: I think normally you shouldn't bet the turn here or if you do bet, throw in only 1/2 the pot (like you said). With 6 high, it's means you either give up a blank river or have to fire again with the no showdown value hand.

Hand 4: No way checking the flop is right here. I think you gotta bet this. You 3-bet him preflop so you bet this 100% of the time. Check-calling seems real weak especially for you. I also like your turn bet. Don't let him have a free redraw in that huge ass pot.

Most of these hands are well played... Gl at the tables.

Re: A Few Hands against Lolobot

hand 2, its obv. to LOL you don't have a boat and a pot sized bet can be a bluff, but again I dunno what he calls with to that turn raise given that you checked the flop.

Many will probably disagree, but it looks to me like you got straight up out played, this is exactly what happens to a LAG when he tries to outplay a solid TAG. I'm not saying that you are unable to take advantage of him in certain spots, but these sort of hands are inevitable given your styles.
