Make your own odds russian roulette?
My friend asked me this one day and i love asking the question to others.
How many chambers in a revolver your would need to play russian roulette for say 10 millions dollars? the amount is meaningless just that you would be set for life. My answer to his question was 1/1000, i have suffered too many beats to go less than that. |
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
1 in 5 million sounds ok to me
|
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
im talking the lowest number u would accept ahahahah
|
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
There was a thread about this awhile ago.
I think 2-3 years ago I would have gone with 20 chambers, but now I would probably go with 5,000. |
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
This depends on how long I have to live. If I'm an old dude, I go with 6 chambers or less. I'm 22 now, so I go with 100 chambers.
|
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
8 chambers
edit i'm 28 years old |
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
that's an interesting question. man umm i really dont want to die just yet and im kind of scared, whatever the percentage of me dying getting into a car and driving to work is ill take that percentage. to the poster that says one in 5million or whatever thats just not very smart if there's bargaining involved since your chances of just dying of the multitudes of possible accidents day to day is much higher than that anyways.
|
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
yeah but u dont get paid that much to drive a car of fly in a plane. in fact u pay to do it sometimes. So im willing to take a much greater chance....something to think about
|
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
1.
That's how I roll. |
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
yeah but im assuming im a MUCH better driver than the average person , anyways i looked up the chance for dying in a car accident, it's 1 out of 19k.

Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
Anyone saying anything less than 500 is lying their asses off or needs clinical counseling. There is no way, when it came down to it, that you would do it. BB&V is full of the reasons why this is such a dumb proposition.
money isnt everything. i would give it a whirl at about 1 million. |

Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
Am i missing something? With two people playing RR, it doesnt matter how many chambers there are.
If your talking about one pull of the trigger only, then id accept a fairly low number depending on the cash offered. |
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
I think 1000 sounds about right.
|
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
Honestly...standard gun.
1 in 6 for 10 mill. I'm literally down all i have is a girl and she's better off without me. What a stupid question. |
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
Do you have any idea how ridiculous a revolver with 1000 chambers would look?

Also, i think i am happier than the average joe about life in general. |

Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
I actually think i'll have a more interesting life NOT being *totally* financially secure. Having an infinite bank account will take one of the joys of life out.
And coupling that with the avoidable risk, however small, to my life means i wouldn't take the gamble. Although, if i was being rational about it, i suppose i'd set the odds somewhere close to the odds of dying on a trans-continental flight, since I'm willing to risk that for no financial gain. |

Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
Is there any way I can just point this gun at someone else and pull the trigger? I really like my life a lot....
That said, I would probably go at like...1 in...40. 40 Sounds about right...I mean there is SOME %age that says I'll be dead in the next year anyway right? So the # of chambers would correspond to well under that number.... |
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
Anyone who is saying 500, 1000, 5000 + chambers is not forgetting reality. I'm sure we all do things far more dangerous than a 1 in 5000 chance of killing ourselves. Ever weaved through traffic at 100+mph? Ever forget to wear your seat belt?
The thing is, if we really thought of our lives as "pricesless" or worth Billions, than our society would be totally different: speed limit at 5mph, helmts + body gear at all times, eating only the most nutrious possible meals to live as long as possible.... etc, etc, etc. So before you say you need 289374237 chambers, just think about how you live your life, do you really live like you value it as priceless? I bet not. I'd go for 1-25. |
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
50
LLL |
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
i think this question would be better if we got more money for having less barrells.
that said. id do 50 |
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
16 chambers.

Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
10 million is way too little to get any reasonable number of chambers. A person could easily blow through that in less than a year living it up. 10 million wouldn't even be enough to get a huge mansion, a few sick cars, and a decent yacht.

Only thing that I can think of now that's close to that range is an average BASE jump. |

Average base jumps are much more life-threatening than 1:5000. [/ QUOTE ] By average I meant jumps done by experienced jumper (at least some skydiving experience is he/she's a first timer). It's pretty hard to estimate, because it's not a regulated sport and nobody knows how many jumps have been made and also the amount of total jumps is so low there's no statistical significance. Only numbers I've seen are (saw it on a BASE forum, don't know if they are correct) these: Bridge (where jumping is legal and organized in one day a year): 1 death per 15,000 jumps Terminal wall (where jumping is organized) in Norway: 1 death per 3,000 jumps |
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
The more i think about it and the more i think about my current situation somewhat similar to beardy faced man i was hassling in BBV(he's pretty cool btw). I'd take 1 in 3 for 5 mil.
Anyone got 5 mil to burn and a sick sense of humor? |
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
1/200 for $10 million.
|
Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
So far we've only been talking about one bullit which is obviously no fun 'cause you have at least 50% of living (Unless you go 1 1).
Lets heat things up a bit and hear if someone would go for example 2 bullits in 3 chambers! |

Re: Make your own odds russian roulette?
Seriously, if you knew you were gonna die instantly, id go as low as about 1 in 50.
Im 23, and about 8/10 on the happiness scale. |
