Is party trying to torment me or am I just going insane?
 

For some reason party is limiting the time that I have to act on some tables. The majority of the time everything is normal and each hand I am given the appropriate amount of time to act. Sometimes on my tables tonight though when it was my turn to act the timer would already be counting down at 10 seconds. A few times it started at even less than 10 seconds, giving me 6-9 seconds to act. The only correlation that I noticed was that some tables seemed more prone to limit my time for action than others, but I might have just been imagining things. Is anyone else having a problem with this? Perhaps party didn't consider me buying a new computer to play on their site a big enough sign of my loyalty and want me to buy a second one to continue playing with them.

This has happened to me as well. I was dealt kings with a raise in front and 2 sec later they were auto folded (no time bank or anything), I was pissed.

Dude this has happened to curtains among others and nobody was able to fix it. He ended up buying a new computer.

I'd consider reinstalling Windows from scratch and running NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING but Party on the computer.

I got so overwhelmed at one point that on one table I just called a raise on the river heads up with the nuts not realizing what was going on [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

this is happenign to me. Also after like 50 tournies it lags on me like crazy until i restart party which sucks playing continous because it screws up my hand histories.

Hmm prob related to known Party memory leaks.

I guess don't play continuous for more than 50 at a time. [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

I had this problem too - and when I tried to join a cash table I would have ~0.5 seconds to enter the amount and click OK. It stopped for a while when I uninstalled and reinstalled Party, and when it started again I got it to stop by switching to Stars [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

yeah some guy told me i wasnt good at poker when i played on stars...i got so ticked off i switched to party, AND LOOK AT ME NOW! AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA


and newt, it might be as much of party's software as anything else, i mean i feel like its possible it lags and you might not even be shown the time left until its too late...kind of like how my buttons froze and i couldnt push into loose big stack with KK today and went out in 4th instead.

This is the memory leak in their software. This is the first problem that I had to buy a new computer for [img]/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

The thing that is weird though is that it was happening heads up as well with no delay between hands. At first I thought that party might just be lagging so there was a delay between when I was getting delt the hands and when I was actually seeing the hands. This would cause the timer to have already started ticking before I get to even see my cards. When I was heads up and it was happening though I noticed that there was no delay between the end of each hand and me being delt into the next hand, yet on that next hand I would immediatly be presented with 10 seconds or left to act on every hand.

No, because after the dozens of email exchanges I've had with them in the past I know that I will just get a form letter that tells me nothing. I have reinstalled it though and will try playing again tommorow morning and see if either time or the reinstall has fixed it.

party support is about as useful as i am completely stoned off my gord while being literally suffocated by 4 arab terrorists. on top of the fact that i am already incapacitated, youd have a hell of a time trying to get any words out of my mouth.

If this is caused by a memory leak you don't need a whole new computer, just some more RAM. Most computers will have an upgrade slot available so you should be able to buy it and install it yourself. Just match the RAM stick up with the only slot it will go into and make sure to line the small hole in the bottom of the RAM stick up with the small piece of plastic in the hole.

I have similar problems at party.

I use a program called SNG Opener which is handy for opening party sng's. It also has an "auto time bank" feature which will keep your hand from timing out. It works very well for not getting your hand folded before it times out. It costs about $20.

lately, due to memory leak issues/paranoia, i always restart party after each set. i don't recall running into any problems since. but if you play continuous, guess you might have to play a shorter continuous set as pineapple suggested...

vip support has always helped me with any problem ive ever had. ive actually been extremely impressed with the vip support. obviously the regular support is about as useful as sticking needles in your eyes.

Even if VIP support is the nuts, there's no way they're gonna have a clue on this problem. Although it would be comical to see the exchange with newt patiently re-explaining the problem, untl 27 emails later... "Sir, thank you we understand the nature of the problem exactly, and we have no clue. Have a nice day."

This thread seems to have gotten a little off track. As far as I know this a completely separate problem from the memory leak. The problems that I was having with the memory leak went away when I got a new computer, probably because my new computer is fast enough that I just don't notice the performance degeredation. As far as I know this is a completely separate problem.

I agree it is a separate problem. I'm just saying if no one here can help you I'd lay 100 to 1 PP can't either. Even if PP support was solid, I'm saying as a programer that these sporadic, hard to identify problems are soo sooooo tough to nail down.

I would recommend doing what everyone else said, reboot and reinstall everything, and pray. If you have to install programs other than PP on your HD try to space out the installations as much as you can, like a week apart. This way if one of them interacts poorly with PP at least you know which. Also try to figure out if there's any commonality between the times it does do it and doesn't.

I would say maybe you have some hardware problem with your internal clock. But since other's seems to have the same problems with party's timer, sounds like it's something on their end. When you do reinstall don't change any settings or add anything like HUD etc. at first. Then change/add one thing at a time over however long it takes for the problem to usually develop.
